I had it 3 times before i was fully immune - rare but not that rare. Maya was allowed back to preschool once her spots had crusted over.

I've never had chicken pox (and I'm 38) but my two older girls have had it. One had it while I was pregnant with the other.
And just because you've had it doesn't mean you are completely immune I know someone who's had it three times. Once was last year.

I have also read that once the spots are all crusted over they are no longer contagious. I'm sure I read that on the "bug" sheet that is at the boys daycare.

I don't know how definite the immune thing is with chicken pox and bf. I'd still take the cautious route but even in saying that, I don't know any kid under 6mos that has contracted CPox.

I would think that if they didn't get it then they have had it before and are therefore immune so wouldn't be carrying it and if you have had it before you would have passed the antibodies to Ethan in your breastmilk, but if you are uncomfortable about it why not ask them to come next weekend so that you know for sure they are clear of it.
