You need to be very careful with lifting basically don't do it, also if they want a cuddle I would suggest sit down and then let them get up on you, if you get offered help take it hehe, don't be bullet proof and take your pain relief even if you think you are ok, My daughter was in neo for 6 weeks and was a light weight so I had lots of time to recoup with was good for me, I was driving after a week which my spec said to do as I felt really good and we have a toyota estima so was easy to get in and out of, be careful with putting children in and out of cars, we taught my son to climb in and out prior which was good he was 2.2 years so was excited about doing this, good luck you'll be fine just remember to look after you!!

My first at 31 weeks was an emergency because of severe pre eclampsia and HELLP syndrome. My second was at 29 weeks, an emergency because I had a placental abruption. My third was at 38 weeks electively.

With my second c section, Aimee was about 2 1/2, so a bit older than your son, but perhaps showing him your "sore" he might understand to be careful? It all depends on your son and what level he is at understanding things, but I am sure he would know "sore" (and I am sure he uses that one all the time on you!!)

When Teagan was born, my third, Aimee was almost 4, and she was fantastic. Try preparing him as much as you can, although considering you are going in tomorrow - there isn't much time left for that!

Oh and just a tip! Don't try and cope without pain killers to soon after the birth. I had the Morphine drip taken out the next mornign which was fine as they continue with tablets, but make sure you take them routinely, and as a preventative rather than a cure, because it DOES hurt when they start wearing off, and they take a while to kick in as well.

Enjoy the experience, it may be sore for a while, but it is beautiful, and you are forever left with a reminder of their birth by the scar left behind!

GOOD LUCK for tomorrow!!
