We have a funeral tomorrow so its going to be a very disrupted day, hope we get a good night sleep tonight!

Just spoke to mw on phone and she told me a few things to try before I see her on Wednesday. She is hopeful that it will pass - fingers crossed. Greer will be very limited in what foods she has as Hannah has food allergies, so will be a boring diet for a while!

Ava showed the signs about 2-3 weeks old but since it was mild we didn't do anything about it (we did the things it suggested on the crying over spilt milk website), it was when she stopped feeding that we knew that there was something wrong, took her to the docs and she said it was reflux! She is now on meds and AR milk, and she is doing great! At her 5 month check she weighed in at 8kg!

I was told by the paedrition (sp?) that reflux babies tend to want to suck alot, they want to have things in their mouths most of the time.

Just for future reference, if it is reflux, watch the foods you introduce when you start weaning! There is also a support topic on this website!

best of luck!

Is her basinette raised? When Daniel started showing those signs we popped a towel under the basinette matress at the head end and this helped along with side sleeping him.

Maybe worth a trip to the docs and see what they think. At least that way if they believe its reflux as well you can get on top of it before her poor throat gets burned too much by all the stomach acids.

    Author: aimeejoy
Subject: 14957
Posted: 03 March 2008 at 9:19am

So I knew that everything with Greer was going way to smoothly. She has been feeding and sleeping really well, but now I'm starting to wonder if she has reflux or something...

She is very spilly - pretty much constantly little spills after a feed, always have to change sheets and pillowslip thing, often wet patches on the floor by the bassinett, and at least one projectile vomit a day. Hannah was a bit like that as well, but she was happy as larry with it.

She arches her back a lot after feeds and screams like she is in pain.

She always seems hungry, but she just wants to suck so sometimes will take a dummy. I seem to have a lot of milk and she does choke a bit, but I dont keep feeding her. Am feeding 3 hourly-ish during the day and let her sleep as long as she wants at night (about 4 hours). She doesnt seem to have too much trouble bringing up wind straight after a feed either.

She settles to sleep ok during the day, grumbles around on and off for a while, but no screaming. But the night feeds are becoming terrible - I guess cos she is only up for about half an hour for feed and nappy change then straight back down and during the day she is up for a while after feeds. But she will be happy after burping, but as soon as I lay her in bed she screams blue murder. Last two nights she will only settle on one of us sleeping upright. Her bassinett is raised up too.

So what do you think? I havent had any dairy at all since shes been born either, so is there anything else I may have eaten? I just have a gut feeling that something isnt right and her screaming does sound like shes in pain. Any advice much appreciated.
