I'm fine with my degree I will change all my papers next semester to extramural so it'll be a little bit more difficult but managable.

The army will give us an army house to live in.

Wow, that's awesome that you guys have figured it all out!

I lived in Ohakune for 2 years... for the winter you'll all need hats, gloves, scarves, warm windproof jackets, warm socks, and waterproof boots/shoes in addition to the thermals. Then, when it snows, add waterproof trousers to that if you plan to go and play outside

There is very little inbetween the mountains and Waiouru, so when the wind is coming from that direction it is quite cold.

Since you are planning on moving in July (which is the time of year we initially moved to Ohakune) find out what sort of heating your new place will have... and if its got a wood-burning fire, you'll probably want to organise some firewood not long after getting there! The local papers have listings in the classifieds of people who sell firewood, and they often deliver. Yeah I was thinking about winter clothes - need to do a big shop for them for me and the boys. DH is going to try and get me some army ones and i'll go to the Jockey Outlet store to get the boys ones.

I spoke to a friend tonight about moving up there as he is there everyday with his truck so i'm his lunch stop and he expects lunch everyday

Good Luck Becks, you'll have a great time living in Waiouru Camp they have a great support network there for partners.

Make sure you stock up on your thermals before you go.

That's exciting Becks. My boss lived in Waiouru with her DH and their DDs when they first came to NZ several years ago. She said it is a brilliant place to raise kids.

I sincerely believe that everything thing that's ever happened to me, good or bad, has made me the person I am today so I wouldn't change a thing - except maybe my lotto numbers for last week, would have loved to win that one (maybe this week).

Re: Living in Waiouru, my DH's grandfather was in the army and they followed him wherever he was stationed -- apparently it was a lovely place to bring up a family, with lots of other army families to keep the military wives in good company. That's got to be a good thing!

I got preggers with taine and we moved back. about a year later our company in japan went bust BIG time! People were kicked out of their flats (cause nova collected but didn't pay rent), middle of winter electricity was cut (same reason), months of pay wasn't. Has anyone else had this happen?? You have a bad thing happen but something really good comes out of it.

I've had 2.

My first: I was was 20 and I had a MC and as a result my work that day slipped and I got fired. Yes at first I was pi$$ed but I got the best case manager at WINZ and she got me on to my early childhood certificate and from that I went flatting and in that flat I met DH and hello the rest of my life.

Second: Just happened, had the issue with daycare, just spoke to DH and we are probably going to live up with him in Waiouru and that means he'll stay in the army.
