Like other's its about Christ here however I have been rather lapsed this year. Will be off to church on Sunday to celebrate. We don't really do easter egg's will prob get the boy's a little one each for tomorrow I mean marshmellow ones last year DH's grandparent's gave us money to buy them in pound's when we converted it it was over $30 so we got them a special book about easter and that is what we will do again this year if they do the same. Oh me on the other hand will find myself a nice yummy egg and get DH a giant bunny the cadbuary one I have got him one every year scince we meet.

We aren't religious either. Up until Ollie arrived, Easter meant chocolate, hot x buns and time off work. Now it means all that as well as spending time with family. Although Stu is working today and Monday ... unless I go into labour

I'm not religious at all, neither is DH. To be really honest; It's just a long weekend for us. We don't do anything differently, all it really means is that I have them all at home on the Friday, Monday and the kids on Tuesday.

We have hot cross buns all weekend and the kids get their eggs (if any) on Sunday. Here we go.

The Jewish calendar is lunar. Twelve lunar months, with an occasional extra month popped in to keep up with the solar year. The month begins with new moon, and full moon, in the middle of the month, is the obvious time for extensive parties and festivals. There’s more light at night! Passover (Pesach) is the first full moon after the vernal (Northern Spring) equinox (14 of Abib in the Old Testament's Hebrew Calendar) (Lev 23:5). This was to be a "perpetual ordinance" (Exodus 12:14).

Alia the autumn equinox was on the 8th of March.

Which probably explains easters dates, its to do with the moons, as this must been the first full moon since then.

Caprece and I went to church for the first time ever today. It was very exciting and I really enjoyed myself. It actually really made me think about jesus and not just chocolate and bunnies.

A question tho, how is the weekend that Easter is on chosen each year?

Just pointing out - it's the spring equinox (what you were talking about) in the northern hemisphere. Christian here too. Went to church this morning to remember the sacrifice Jesus made in dying on the cross. Go again on Sunday to celebrate his ressurection and what that means for us.

Well, Easter to me is all about watchign the original film of Jeasus Christ Superstar, my favourite musical ever! They stopped playing it every year about 10-15 years ago, but santa DH bought me one for Christmas - yay!

And nope, we are not religious, though I have beliefs and ideals that I will share with my child.

i will talk about the pagan festival that existed before Christainity took the dates.

i will talk about Christianity and what it means to some people, and make her watch JC superstar every year with me :)

I will discuss what the symbolism of the rabbit and eggs is for and also talk about commercialism in relation to events like this and all the others but we will enjoy the chocolate anyway.

not catholics in this house... but i also dont do easter eggs.
I do like hot cross buns tho.
i do try and let the kids know that to some the holidays have meanings and we try and talk about them. Esp when my husbands son is over.

Being a Christian it's all about Jesus for me too....unfortunately I'm working all Easter but will take time out for some prayer and remembrance.

I'm also a lapsed catholic and wont be having meat tomorrow or any 'treat' type foods. It's a sign of respect for Jesus having given his life on the Cross. No meat on Ash Wednesday either. ummmmmmm easter to me is chocolate and hot cross buns. that's all really. i'm going to be spending the whole weekend landscaping the front of our house because anyone that has been here, know's it needs it!!!

DH is going to golf tomorrow then a bbq at a mates place, so i'll be doing it all by myself

We're Catholic too, so no meat on Good Friday. We'll go to mass on Easter Sunday but I don't do the 3pm crucifixion mass on Good Fri, it's all a bit dreary.

We recreate the Passover on Holy Thurs for dinner (flat bread, cold meat, olives etc) and read the story of Easter from teh kids Bible. Good Fri we have Hot Cross Buns for breakfast and we do the no meat thing, then o Easter Sun we have Easter Eggs in the morning and a big family dinner in the evening.

I am catholic too and it is very much about Jesus for us. It has been holy week at school for my kids. They had an easter mass today and dressed up like jesus and his disciples and the last supper. They also are very excited about the easter bunny coming lol

Well Easter is me is all about Jesus to. I am a catholic and this weekend is a time to reflect on my beliefs, go to mass and spend time with family and friends. No meat for us tomorrow either, such an easy thing to go without.!!

This whole week has been special as it's holy week and the lead up to Jesus dying on te cross.It's also a time to take time out from the busyness of life and relax and reflect.

I'm a Christian so deep down Easter is an important event like Christmas. But this Easter we're mostly going to be hanging out as a family, enjoying each other's company, sorting clothes for winter, etc. I have been writing a list!! I enjoy the long weekend, the chocolate and the hot cross buns. I would not be bothered if they got rid of xmas and easter and let us have more annual leave so that I could take it at a time that was convenient to me.

Curious to know what Easter means to others and what you do at Easter.

I am a very lapsed catholic haven't been to church for years. However Easter is still about Jesus, and him dying on the cross and coming back to life on Sunday.

I wont be going to confession or mass, but I can't bring myself to eat meat tomorrow, will be fish for us.
