Bingo! Maybe    I'm pretty sure she had two put back because of age.

topcat - I do understand what you mean. Infertility is a unique and painful journey - no infertile couple goes through the same thing, but it is always very, very hard.

One way I tried to help myself cope was to give myself 'happy credits' - I'd treat myself every day, even something as small as a hot chocolate before bed, or leaving the dishes ... but then again there was also the odd ( ) new cardy and a lovely new handbag    It was such a silly thing, but giving myself goals and treats made some days easier, and gave me something to focus on. I went through a patch starting every day with a coffee and a melting moment (yes, at 8am!!) which was completely decadent, but it made me smile and feel really naughty, and it was such a positive way to start the day.

I'm excited for you looking into adoption - I do understand though that you'll need to see how you feel when you have more information. At least you have the ball rolling. DH and I talked about adoption, and we were much teh same - we agreed we'd look into it if need be, but neither of us could be sure that it would be right for us. There was an equally good chance that we'd just have our dogs.

Thank you so much for your kind thoughts about No. 9    It still honestly feels completely surreal - we thought we'd better start collecting things with the groceries to put away and yet when I got to the supermarket I pretended I was looking at something else on the shelf, grabbed the first thing I spotted (turned out to be butt balm ) and shoved it in the trolley under our other groceries and I haven't been able to do it since.

Keep us posted on how things go for you, and don't give up. There was Lulu, who had her beautiful baby girl in August    I'm not too sure if that's who you mean?

There was a girl called Emile on the boards, but she disappeared, and I have no idea how things turned out for her.

I have a funny thought that there is someone else who I'm forgetting    Blame No. 9!

Things are good though - toadly is growing and last peek (at 9 weeks) doing really well.

How did things turn out for the other girl who did IVF about this time last year... one of two took ans she was about 4months last time I checked -c ant remember her name though...

Thanks Ginger, I really appriciate your comments. We are a good 6moths or so away from starting and it hasn't been 100% confirmed that we will be elegible for funding but the Dr at the hospital did say we should be.

One of the challenge for me is that I am self employed and can't just have time off. But I will have to get the business more organized (which I need to do anyway)and learn to say no more! We have decided that I will work as much as I can till (fate willing) baby arrives and plan to not book in many jobs after that and keep the business ticking over/paying the bills until I am ready to take on more.

But we don't want to put off doing IVF and find in 4-5 years time that we regret not doing it now.

We've had three IVF babies recently avkiwi3 - Lulu, mellybelly and No. 9.

The thing I'd say to you is it's not the greatest, but keep your chin up! Do stuff to keep your spirits up too - treat yourself, take time out to do things you enjoy doing, if you feel you need to rest DO IT - forget about housework etc. If you're not feeling the best, it'll still be there tomorrow!

Oh, and someone suggested to me using an icepack for my injections but the hospital said that's not such a great idea as it somehow makes the bruising worse. In the end I found that if I took a good handful of tummy and gave it a blimmin good squeeze, it was almost painless.

YYYYYAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYY ginger! i havn't been on for a couple of days and i came straight in here to check up on you and this is the best news ever i am sitting here with tears streaming down my face after reading your blog and just being so damn happy for you guys! the infertility journey is definatly a mission and i the IVF journey is a heck of a lot more of a mission and the way you have shared and got through yours is definatly an inspiration for me! I dont know whether words can express just how happy i am for you guys but i wish you all the happiness in the world for your pregnancy and for when number 9 arrives and i think he/she is very priveledged to have such a wonderful mummy in you (and i'm sure your DH will be just as wonderful as a daddy)

Good thing I banned everyone from thinking too positively and gave all those lectures, punctuated with statistics, about being realistic

We're still reeling today, but both of us feel like an enormous weight has lifted off. The next bit is scarey, and last night when I went to bed my heart was thundering with the enormity of the job before us growing and raising No. 9 (and probably never being able to afford shoes again! ) but we are so very happy. I've already said my congrats when I talked to you but I'll say it again CONGRATULATIONS, I'm the proudest Aunty there ever was!!

You and Al have already been on the most amazing journey to get this far (altho it hasn't been easy) look at the reward it has given you, and hon this is just the begining.

I remember last time we were at your place watching you and Al with Lola and I saw an insite into what a lucky baby you would have, little no9 or 9's are very lucky and blessed to have you two as parents, lets face it you didn't run off screaming everytime Sienna puked on you or over xmas when Noah & Lola were screaming the house down with their reflux it just made you that much more wiser on some of the tricks of the trade.

I can't express how happy I am for you and still get tears in my eyes everytime I think of your little bubba, I can also get out the little things that I have brought for you since you started IVF to give to you (see thats how sure I was that it would work)

Sending you the biggest ever hugs, and a spew bucket if needed for the ms.

And because I'm clueless about IVF (even though my sis went through it so I shouldn't be!!) even after only replacing one embryo, are the chances of it dividing into 2 higher or just the same as the "average" person?
