I did fairly well on the taking lunch to work thing and managed to save a fair bit. I've also stopped spending money on crap though my supplies were depleted yesterday when I bought two merino tops for Hannah.

I have however paid off my credit card and increased the money going into my savings account (which is really just a debt recovery account!) to $100 (from $50).

I am continuing on with my limit on spending money which should mean I save another $100 over top of the debt recovery money for emergencies (like my freaking car).

And on the car topic, it's at the mechanics today so is likely to clean out my savings thus far.

But then I'm going to sell it and buy a cheaper (and more economical) car.

Continuing on with frugality and will have my debt paid off in 30 weeks. I've been making extra when I cook and freezing it (when appropriate). I've also been making tomatoe based sauces from scratch with my home grown tomatoes and freezing that too. I now make all of our bread and on Monday I even made fresh patsa and froze that too!

Well this fizzled out didnt it?! No posts since 19th

So how did everyone go?

I met all my goals...
* I managed to save around $300 of my own personal spending money, and bought myself some cool red shoes I'd been eyeing up.
* Only went to the supermarket once a week, no topups during the wekk
* Made do with everything we already had in the pantry during the week and made heaps from scratch

After four weeks my thinking has totally changed. Now I am really stopping and thinking before I buy, and more often than not I decide not to get it cos I dont NEED it.

And I was thinking the nappy stacker would help keep the baby's nappies separate from the gremlins ones o my poor nanny doesn't spontaneously self combust trying to work out which ones are which. I won't need it until mid November and then since I'm having a summer baby I'll probably pick out a different colour anyway, I've got a choice of 300 of them at the moment, lol. The one I've been using is a black one so not the most ideal for summertime, but good at this time of the year.

I'm going to be in the same situation soon except I'll have a 22 month age gap so a wee bit bigger than your age gap, but not by much.

You could always try out both especially since you can borrow the Moby. I used a baba sling when L was newborn, but I found by the time she was about 4-5 months old that it killed my back. That's when I bought a Moby and I loved going shopping with her in that though I had to organise myself before I went out with her so she was easy to pop in and out. See I'm thinking I'll mostly need a baby carrier/sling when we're out coz the gremlins will be in the buggy and I'll have nowhere to put baby. They are soooo not ready to be walking everywhere, they run in opposite directions

Yup you can. You might prefer a different sling for supermarket shopping, You can easily tie it before you go out but I wouldn't want to be tying it from scratch in the supermarket carpark. Psst, it's the ones with gremlins that seem to like it the most because it's more hands free. You can tie it on at the beginning of the day and bubs can get in and out around 4-5 times normally before needing to retie it. Post preggy I'm more of a M. It was fine for when Hannah was teeny, but now that she's almost big enough to sit on my hip/back , I need a smaller one.

Good idea, coz I really need talking out of buying the gorgeous linen set at the baby factory that matches the wall border I picked for her room ages ago. I went in to get the mattress today and did really well, spent $117 and got an innersprung mattress, mattress protector and a hat for baby (coz when we were going thru her clothes we discovered we didn't have any

Buuuuut... they have the 6 piece linen sets on sale marked down from $170 to $135, and they have the Silver Lining pattern which is on her wall border. I was tempted, oh so tempted! Am still thinking about it. But we really REALLY don't need it, I have plenty of cot linen from the gremlins...

So persuade away, I *don't* need it do I? But managed to remember everyting on it and get most of them. But then there was a greand opening sale at the new Pascoes, with 50% off all gold jewelery (new earrings!) and I decided that I NEEDED an exteranal harddrive for my compauter (for music pics etc) so bought that too...

our grocery didn't go too well. we got a few non-essential items I think.
Got Jake a new pair of pjs yesterday - $25!!!! was not impressed BUT every other pair he said "no' at - and he will not wear them if he doesn't like them, so i can justify it. Found him another pair that he likes and they were $16 - a bit better. am also going to get some vinyl stickers for their shoes (Jake's cost $60 so don't want to lose them), and lunchboxes. i figure it will save me money (by not having to replace them)

BUT will be pretty good this weekend - Westpac machine at New World ate my card yesterday (machine fault - not me being dodgy) and it will take three to four working days for me to get a new one. Well sort of have a set back but not major. I have like no no clothes whatsoever for winter for Playcentre that actually fits me. All way too big or way too small (when I was like 20 and still have)

So we went and bought some clothes. Not too bad. 4 tracksuit pants, 2 tops, and one jacket for like $120 and that includes socks for McKayla.

Need to get more stuff but not essential so didnt get. Went and ate out as well. Some takeaways. Took a bit of time and hubby and McKayla got hungry.

Other good news is I forgot this one is in panties these days and we were at the shops for about 4 hours and when I finally realised she was still totally dry and just told me she wanted to go. YAY. (so think it justified the take aways although we have finished eating it by then)

Groceries where is our biggest waste sometimes has really been good. I'm heading out to a party tonight and just thought that I'd better confess that I intend to dye my hair (that's for my graduation next week) and buy some things for the costume. Otherwise I've been good - no yarn since the last splurge!

Oh yeah, and childcare paid me back some money they owed me so I am up $100 (which covers the excessive #2 yarn purchase)

Well I seem to be really good. Need some groceries but trying to make meals of stuff that we already have and will try and wait until the 15th for the big month shop but will need a few things like fruit milk and bread.

Havent bought anything unneeded as such. Grant however bought a new freaking bike before he sold the other one. (lets just say I told him beforehand I aint happy and he still went and did it.

) Just waiting for the stupid garage to finish with the bike so it can go on trade me.

Further found trouble with SA stupid banks and it looks like we might not be able to get our other money out from there. Might have to ask my dad to bring it over and transfer it to his account or something.

$300 at spotlight for black out blinds
$200 at bunnings for various things
$30 at mitre 10 mega
$250 at iqtoys for Daniels swing set
$140 at the plant shop
$55 at farmers (granted $50 was a voucher I got given for my bday)

lol that's only what I can remember. And we plan on spending a couple hundy on the weekend when we go to a show

I'm sucking at this! I spent $22 at a $2 type shop on stuff for Rowan's play box (feathers, little balls, scarves etc.) and got DH to bring home the New Idea so I could get a goody bag.

We just got the power bill today though - $146 discounted! Yikes! I think I will behave myself now

So far I havent bought anything non-essential. All I've got is groceries, petrol and parking when I picked up my sis at the airport yesterday. And thats it!

If anything, we've been eating too well around here - too much homemade biscuits and puddings.

Feeling really good tho and have a picture in my head of my goal - winter boots

I wrote a really complete menu plan and shopping list, much better than I have ever done before. I usually just write the names of a few meals, but end up going back to the supermarket to get ingredients later in the week,..and spending up to $40 each extra trip.
Looked at what we already had in the cupboards too, and planned meals around some of the things that had been in there ages! I had to go to 2 supermarkets, but I did get everything,...and I only spent $125! Laterly our main shop has been $150 plus up to 3 extra trips to supermarket a week of about $25-$40 each, plus takeaway $25 plus, lunch out $10,...soo massive improvement. Fabric and yarn are always so tempting! We were going to go for brunch near my favourite wool shop the other day but didn't - am very glad cos I think I would have spent big!

Did the groceries - $20 under budget (how chuffed am I!) and no junk food (how annoyed is DH!). So week 1's going OK so far.
