We found for example that karicare made Daniel super windy but we only found this out after he had had a few feeds of it in a row. It's best to let their system get use to one type of food (formula) rather than changing all the time.

We ocassionally switch between the gold and non-gold versions of the same brand when the other isn't in stock but we get a few tins at a time.

I personally wouldn't switch brands of formula on a continual basis like that. I'm sure the other ladies can give more advice!

    Author: LittleBug
Subject: 16362
Posted: 15 April 2008 at 9:13pm

Ok, so we have two different brands of formula. I am mostly still breastfeeding, but we give one or two bottles of formula a day at the moment, and I am seriously thinking that I am going to move from breastfeeding to full-time formula feeding.

My question is, is it bad to use different kinds of formula? We have 2 different brands at home, and we have used one for a while (Nestle Nan) but I can't stand the smell of it... so we have got a can of Karicare Gold as well. I have given her a couple of bottles of it. But since we have still got half a can of the Nestle one left, I want to finish it, not waste it... is it ok to be switching back and forth like that?? If not, then why not? Chloe seems to tolerate them both just fine, so far... but as I said, she still mostly has breast milk.

I don't really like the way the Karicare one goes all frothy either, so was thinking of trying the Heinz one after we finish the cans we have. Am I doing something dangerous by trying out all the different brands, or is it perfectly okay?
