We have always loved going to the Manukau Live Steamers which are the mini trains they run on a Sunday morning the photo they have on their link looks really busy I've never seen it like that. It must have been a function or something. But they put on more trains if there are more people.
In fact it would be a great place to have a meet up one day. You would need to bring a picnic or snacks as there isn't any food etc there.

yeah cool idea - goat island is great...stop at orewa playground on the beach on way there or back....

and of course a visit out to botany way has to be on the cards....we can show you some of the lovely areas in eastern suburbs on offer ....cool playground at barry curtis park. beaches etc....

botanic gardens in manurewa
glenbrook trains (your boys will love them!) and farm park

If you have the car drive to Goat Island (roughly 90mins north ). It's a marine reserve and you can see soooo many fish even from just looking in. There's a glass bottom boat too.

we went to the zoo, western springs park (which rhiannon loved) thats right next to the zoo.

we went to Kelly Tarltons, and what a waste of money...cost $60 for kent and I to get in, and we were only there for just under 90mins.

One Tree Hill, there's a good playground at Cornwall Park. Nice cake shop on Manukau Road too.

Kelly Tarltons is great, expensive but a very good attraction.

North Head, they can climb all over the old guns emplacements.
