I was told by my gyne that if you get a normal (non hormonal) IUD then you do bleed just like normal. And if you get a hormonal one then you will spot for a while and then your AF should disapear.

But everyone is different and who really knows

If it's a copper IUD then you will still get it. There are approximately 25 days in between uses where it sort of floats around the house. I think that I either put it away somewhere very tidily... or the Devil Child got hold of it and put it in a secret place.

I have a normal IUD, have had it for 3 months now. Just had a period and it was much better, back to normal with no pain. I don't have the hormonal one (which is the one that may affect your period) but my period isn't any heavier than usual. The first few months it was but it has settled down nicely.

And yay for the mooncup! I have the Mirena and still got AF up until a couple of months ago.

Yes when I had one I still got AF - it was lighter though. I used a keeper which is the same as a mooncup and it was pretty good but took some practice.
