My biological alarm clock keeps going off no matter how many times the bank manager puts it on snooze

Before I met DH I never wanted kids - wasn't the mummy type at all. Then before Caitlin was concieved, I said I'd have two at the very most. Then after she arrived (with the nasty labour and emerg CS) we were adamant 1 was plenty!

But now.... My heart NEEDS another baby! I just don't feel complete - even though I love my daughter with all my heart and soul, I still feel I need that second child for our family to be entirely complete. DH says he feels the same but not at the same level. He'd love another child, but would be happy with us just having Caitlin.

robyn & mel -   i feel the same way! i don't want 3 kids but i'd LOVE another baby. everytime i see one i just want to cuddle it. everytime i hear one crying i just want to pick it up
it's so hard going to malls during the day, all the young bubs are out and about

lol! DHs parents came from Ireland for 10 days at easter and are coming back in July for 6 weeks


I've always wanted 4 kids, I know I wouldn't be happy with 3 , so that's why I'm hoping for twins again next time so that we don't end up blessed with 5 kids

That's it! That's how I try to explain it to DH too, I just want to have the baby, I don't actually want 3 kids.
What we have now is manageable, financially and in every other way. If we added a third to the mix it would impact our lives in so many ways, making it harder.. and I really feel like I'd be stretched beyond my capabilities. They're all really strong reasons not to have another. But then there's that awful hormonal ache that creeps up on me and I just feel like I need to do it again. Emotionally I hate the idea of never having another baby, I hate the finality of it. It make me so sad and I start thinking, of course we would cope, of course we could make it work and of course we would love another baby just as much as we love our two now!

Logically I don't want it. Hubby doesn't either.
Emotionally I do, and DH wouldn't be sorry if it happened.
But then I know if I were to get preggers again I'd be a wreck wondering what on earth I'd done and how the hell were we going to cope with it.

I worry about the same thing Mel, when I was preg with the gremlins I was adamant that they would be my last but as soon as they were born I started having anxiety attacks at the thought of NOT having another baby. Now this time round I feel the same way - I'm determined this baby IS our last for real, the end, but at the same time I worry that once she is born I won't be able to let go of that longing to have another one, and let's face it, four kids is plenty, I can't go on having them indefinitely, especially given how sick I get during pregnancy.

But I have a friend who had her fourth baby a month after the gremlins and she gives me hope coz like Nuttymama, she says the urge is gone. Her third was going to be her last but she got accidentally pregnant with number four. She said that after number three she still felt clucky but that's gone now, so hopefully I will be the same once this wee bub arrives. In short YES. BUT I have to say for me personally after No2 I had the same urges but insisted I didn't want another child. 3.5 years later along came No 3. After we had her all urges were gone, she is now 3.5 years old and the clock has stopped and I know feel my family is complete. I really do not want a third child at this stage of my life, possibly ever, but I am plagued by this biological want to have another baby!
Thankfully I anticipated my rampant cluckiness and contraception is well sorted, its just the crazy longing that I get anytime I see birth scenes in movies or tv that are driving me nuts!
