Not sure about the mesh thing, but our towellling one has a metal frame but no bit where it would efffect the baby at all? Could you try him in one of those bucket tub things? They look just like a bucket really, with a rounded edge and is clear. Called a Tummy Tub. Don't know how to make the linky thing work, but is at:

Probably not so good for one person to bath and hold baby with, but I've never used one - but it looks cool?

Thanks everyone! Think we might have to persevere with the mesh thing for a bit. I put a hand towel over the bottom of the frame bit and that helped a bit. Too hard for me to bath with him when DH away with my 2 year old racing round but would work when he is home. Our laundry is in the garage so no go there and he is too big for the kitchen sink unfortunately!!

Might try the shower tho and see how that goes. I think it was around that age that we discovered the laundry tub was a perfect fit! andthen soon enough he could sit up a bit and we went back to his baby bath and then when he was sitting good we went back to the big bath,...lots of changing tactic here!

we got a terri bath seat from baby factory for about $20 it has a metal frame but baby doesn't touch it had it since he was about 6 weeks cos he too big for baby bath and too heavy to hold.  He slips down it but i just move him back up every now and then.  It has a wee pillow on it and you can take the material off and wash it everynow and then.  Ya cant really see it in the pic but its the best i got without his woodle showing (DP wont let me post pics of Josh rockin out with his cock out hahaha)

We were using one of those towelling things too. Eva has since outgrown her bath and we've bought an even bigger bath with a moulded seat. It's quite good, as she is able to stretch out and can also sit upright in it. From memory it was $20 from Baby Online. Here's a picture:

I am having this problem too. She has grown out of her bath (we dont have a big bath) so I am now showering with her but because she gets all the water by back and bum freeze! It also makes it hard to wash her. I end up sitting in the shower with her laying on my crossed legs and us a detachable shower head- again I freeze! i get hubby to dip eden in the bath when he does the older kids but one of her first baths at home was in the bathroom sink...

lottieandharry, we are having the same kinds of problems. We have one of those mesh/wire things that you were talking about, but it has a lot of give so you can put barely any water in the bath to keep her mouth out of it! At the moment we are just holding her, but she is getting really heavy. It's really hard to hold her, and even harder for me to get in with her... because I slipped a disc in my back ages ago and it gets really sore.

Someone should invent a bigger mesh thingee! Lol

ETA: Or invent a bathtub that is up at bench level

We bought one of those seat Lottieandharry, and we only used it once or twice. It wasnt very comfy on his boy bits, as they were all squished up against the bit between his legs. We put a facecloth over it, but it still seemed a bit hard. He didnt seem to like being restricted in the seat either - oh and you have to fill the bath quite deep to cover him in water so he doesnt get cold.

Dont mean to put you off, but just wanted to let you know our experiences!

Just had a look at kiwibaby and they have a Tafli (?)babyseat, looked like just what I was after from newborn to 10months but then saw the max weight limit - 8kg! He is nearly that now! Bummer!!!

Busymum what kind of bathseat did you have?

Sparkle - he gets bathed with his 2yearold sister at present so she would probably nearly drown him, but if I bathed him on his own it might just work! Hmmm will have to figure this out!

I think we just started laying Cooper down in the big bath with the water level just under his ears when he got too big for the baby bath. That way we didn't break our backs and he was happy enough to just splash about while we soaped him up!

Just wondering what people would use in the bath to support a 3 1/2month? Is there any product on the market for this purpose? We have one of the little meshy thing on the frame that he lies in at present but he is alreay to long for it and he wriggles around in it and ends up sliding down and then the metal part along the bottom hurts his lower back/bottom? He is too heavy to hold onto like we did when he was tiny.
