It may have something to do with the way people do their washing. Though I'm a lazy bum and do as little as possible yet I don't get build up.

Could also be the type of washing powder?

ALso how often people use creams etc. We never use cream and only use curash rarely and I've never had to strip my nappies apart from when I forgot that some were sitting in a bucket for ages. I wouldn't advise using a scrubbing brush though as you could damage the fleece.

I'd recommend the baking soda and white vinegar every so often if you think you need to strip them. Personally, I've stripped Caitlin's nappies maybe 2-3 times at the most (she's been in the current size since she was 5 months old). We use Persil and when I remember add some Dettol in wash stuff or tea tree oil.

This makes me wonder though... are some nappies more prone to build up than others? or is it more to do with the washing methods?

I've stripped Daniels nappies once and I only did it because I found a couple that had been sitting in a bucket a good week or so, so they really stank something awful lol.
