I'll have to try some of this XMAease stuff! Both Mikayla & I get eczema, I am hoping she will grow out of it...we have it mainly under control, but sometimes have to use the Lemnis 1%. In the bath we use Alpha Keri Bath Oil and Aqueous, with Huggies sensitive skin bath wash for her hair only, which is the last thing done. Then we have Lemnis Fatty Cream which gets massaged on twice a day and used at every nappy change. We only have to pay for the Alpha Keri and it lasts quite a long time! Thanks for all your great advise. Isn't it just a pain when you're not quite sure what triggers it. I am still convinced, it's wool for Alani. Since I have her only in cotton the eczema seems to have stopped and since I am using now XMAease only for two days it's already improved heaps. I hope we can avoid the cortison cream. Just was at plunket today and they gave me a simple but handy tip. As I said Rohann doesn't like the Aqueous cream as it's cold and we can't easily warm it up in our hands as it has to lathered on so thickly, so nurse the suggested popping the tub in a thing of warm water and warm it like you would a bottle. I personally don't know if I believe in the pricey wonder cures.

I think that eczema needs to be kept under control with a good moisturiser any time you get a chance - I use emulsifying ointment (steroid free and free on script) and prevention - keeping her away from all fragrances, chemicals etc. - then if she has a flare up I quickly get it under control with hydrocortisone. Now, I'm not suggesting using hydrocortisone, maybe use a wonder cure here to get the flare up under control, but I have found that they haven't worked on Hannah's flare ups.

Everyones pretty much covered everything we do here for Laurens eczema, Aqueous Cream and hydroquartizone for the inflammed areas.

Laurens trigger is apple. Go figure, don't know why this would be, apple of all things??!! If you can't wear wool yourself, are you sure that you don't have environment excema? That's what I have. It rarely flares up now but my Briona has excema worse than I remember as a kid. Most excema kids grow out of it before they go to school.

We use the aquaeous cream on Briona but not in the bath as it seemed to make her too slippery. I usually don't use soap on her at all, just once a week, and remember not to bath an excema child every single day because the water dries their skin out too. We rub the cream on after a bath. Caitlyn had bad excma for 3 and a half years, I used pinetarsol in the bath for flare ups and aqeous cream as moisturiser after every bath.In the between times i would just bath her in water and just put aqueous cream on .

I also had her tested for allergies, in case that was causing some flare ups (she was allergic to dust and tomatoes.)

we use the aqueous cream in the bath too but we lather her up when she's in there so it's not so cold. Doesn't get to soak in the same but still works really well.

After the bath we massage some into her skin so she still gets the moisturising benefits.

And yep baking soda works wonders.

Rowan's eczema is triggered by dairy (through the breast milk). She was fine for 2.5 months before it came along so it could be a food allergy that's taken a while to emerge. If you have removed her from contact with the merino and it doesn't improve in a week then I would say it's safe to assume it's not that.

And for the bath, if Eden's had a flare-up, we just add about 1-2 tablespoonsof baking soda, it acts as an alkali and neutralises any acidity which may cause stinging.

The other thing we used is either Cetaphil or we use Oilatum (which we get on script, but not subsidised, so again - quite painful in the pocket area at $26.90 a bottle)

I agree with Miss there can often be a food thing related to eczema.
Rohann is in the same boat (her adad has a history of eczema)and we were given the lemnis cream but without the hydrocortisone to apply at least 2 - 3 times a day - so maybe you could try it with out the hydrocortisone?
Just to thread jack (sorry!) we were also given the aqueous cream which we to lather it on nice and thick before a bath, let it soak in a bit then wash it off in the bath (basically use it as a soap, as regular soap stuff can be too drying). But Rohann absoloutly hates it when we put it on her (I think she finds it too cold) and it winds her up and has made what was a great time in the bath awful! When she started to get the rash I hadn't introduced solids yet and there was also nothing unusual in my diet. That's why I put it down to the wool. She's now in a cotton sleeping bag, so hopefully that will help. My wee girl's the exact same, and I find that sometimes just keeping it moisturised doesn't quite cut it and keep it at bay... I swear by EMAease... It's brilliant!

Totally natural and made here in NZ by a mummy who's little boy had chronic eczema and she didn't like using the steriod creams.
So I wouuld definitely it out. just keeping eczema areas moisturised seems to help in our house. i'm a long time sufferer and jack has it too. every morning the lemnis fatty cream goes on and it seems to help keep it under control. hydrocortisone gets used when flare ups are bad.

maybe a skivvy under her pj's might help?

My little girl has had a rash on her neck for a few weeks and I tried several things before finally taking her to the doctor. She got diagnosed with eczema and prescribed Lemnis Fatty Cream (with 1% hydrocortisone) and Aqueous Cream as a moisturizer.
There is no family history with eczema and I think I know that her merino wool sleeping bag triggered it as neither I nor my husband can wear wool on the skin (how could I think our little baby could
The cortisone cream seams to work but I didn't want to use it for too long. Now, a few days after stopping it, the rash has become worse again.
