Wouldn't do it for a newborn but Jack has a quilt thats just not too close to his face. Woolen blankets are the best, and if you just use a single blanket then by the time you fold it over a couple of times you have all the layering you need. Def a flannelette sheet on the bottom but if he's hot try a cotton one on the top first. Wool and cotton breathes better than acrylic and polar fleece so they're best for snuggles and daytime. A lot of newborns sweat heaps as they can't regulate their temperatures so don't worry if he wakes up one night completely soaked! They're just plain weird

I don't think you are supposed to use duvets until 1yr, that's what Jack's duvet tag says. Apparently Plunket only recommend wool blankets, maybe aircell as well, as they are breathable whereas others such as polar fleece aren't, just in case the blanket goes over baby's face although we never experienced this.

I have a double duvet inner that splits in two, one for summer and put it together for two at winter. Then i have a fleece thin blanket on top that long so can be tucked right under her mattress as she kicks her blankets off..

I have no idea and i dont want our bubba to get cold!
We plan on swaddling him before he goes to sleep aswell...
