IMO a baby that old is perfectly safe enough to sleep on her tummy if she can roll there in the first place - it indicates good head control. Sam started doing this at around 6-7 months and I just left her to it. We are big fans of free sleeping in our household

We do have the angelcare monitor though so I would have known if she had any problems. Really so long as she is turning her head to the side and not laying directly on it she should be fine.

Thomas houdinied out of his safety sleep straight away, I have given up, sometimes he rolls over and sleeps on his tummy but he does turn his head to the side and I check him regularly. When Ella started doing this, I popped her in a safe T sleep and she stopped doing it........for a while, and then figured how to roll while in it. As soon as she was able to roll easily both ways and I was confident that if she rolled onto her tummy she could roll back I stopped using it (and it made life so much easier). Now half the time she sleeps on her tummy (the first couple of time I found her sleeping on her tummy I freaked out....but she seems happier sleeping like that).

You could always try using a Safety Sleep, but we found that even this didn't stop DD turning over when she wanted to! She was about the same age as well, and we were fortunate in that she had great head control and so it didn't present us with any major issues.

Tom did that too (still does), I wouldnt mind if I knew he would happily go to sleep but he doesnt and then he gets upset. He hasnt worked out to turn his head so he just buries it in the mattress and then obviuosly cant breathe and gets upset. At least I know he knows when he cant breathe. But I wont stop using my angelcare monitor as a result.

My DD has now decided that it would a great idea to start rolling onto her tummy in her cot before going to sleep!

I would leave her but I don't really want too and she makes such a racket I have to go in, she has spent the last 10 mins on her front making lots of wonderful noises! We only use a sleeping bag, no wedges etc.
