I absolutely hate pads.<br /><br />Used the lovely surfboard sized ones from the hosp for as long as poss (as I hated paying money for pads that I would throw away within the hour!) It tends to level off quite fast so don't go overboard on the maternity, but maybe some of the lesser "thickness" pads.]]>

They were great. very thin and yet long and no leaks....I bled for about 40 days however only 2 weeks was like a medium period and the rest was spoting.....<br /><br />I bought 3 packs and have nothing left over.]]>

Also see if your midwife might give you some from the hospital... I got 2 packs and she also gave me something to lie in my bed under me in case I had leaks... ]]>

Not sure how many you will need but the goodnight ones are always handy to have around when your period comes back to use at nightime. Actually I even used them during the day during my first period because it was reasonably heavy and I felt more comfortable.]]>

Then libra goodnights (not ultra thins), then just u/thin goodnights or normal pads.]]>

I bled heavily only for about four days and after that it was pretty light.  I used Libra and Pams.  Both were okay, but sometimes the ones with wings come udone and stick to you....ouch]]>
