I bought a big yellow cardboard and drew the outlines of a sunflower. From another bit of card I cut out sunflower pedals. With the invitation I sent to each person one sunflower pedal and asked them to write their wishes for Alani on the pedal. On the day they all came back with their pedals and we created this wonderful big sunflower which will be put in Alani's room. It's a nice keep sake for her.
Otherwise the ceremony was very informal but very personal. We loved our celebrant, she did a great job. We also had the godparents light a candle and read a poem.

We deccided against having one in the end but the last one we went to went like this:

The celebrant welomed everyone and introduced the baby and parents
the parents read a letter they had written to the bubba all about how much they loved her
the sister siad somehing too (she was a few years older than usual)
the 'godfather' spoke - he took on the name godfather even thoughit wasnt in a church
the god mother spoke as well.
The clebrant said something about all the people present agreeing to support the child as she grows - first the parents, then the godparents then all invited guests.

I think in place of a reading they read from a children's book like Guess how much I love you.
Then the celebrant thanked everyone.
That was pretty much it!
Good party food afterwards though ;)

I would like it to be fairly informal and relaxed but special and need some ideas! I've never actually been to a naming ceremony myself. We will be having it at home, more than likely inside judging by the weather in Wgtn at the moment! Any input would be greatly appreciated!
