Can someone please enlighten me as to what program I will need to download in order to put a movie I'm making of Lucas onto DVD that can be played on a standard Phillips/Sony Dvd player???

If anyone could give me tips, and a list of the order I need to do things ...I'm computer illiterate when it comes to this stuff. What is the best brand of blank DVDs to buy, and is it DVD R+ or DVD R- I buy - whats the difference? lol

Any advice will be appreciated.
