    <![CDATA[<strong>Author:</strong> <a href="https://www.ohbaby.co.nz/forum/member_profile.asp?PF=10387">mum2emj</a><br /><strong>Subject:</strong> 1712<br /><strong>Posted:</strong> 07 March 2006 at 2:30pm<br /><br />your body does naturally take over. with my first birth i had and epidural for blood pressure and was told when to push and i was quiet, i cant remember breathing! but i must of! lol.<br />my second birth, was without an epidural and i remember being very loud and vocal (funny vocal, had the room in fits of laughter) i remember at one stage being told i had to pant (and that was hard i wanted to push and get baby out) again i cant remember how i was breathing. i never learnt controlled breathing though, so i did just let my body do its thing. both times i had a real short time pushing (only a few pushes each) fingers crossed it goes smoothly again this time <img border="0" src="https://www.ohbaby.co.nz/forum/smileys/smiley2.gif" border="0"> ]]>

Mind you, in my labour, by the time I got to the pushing part, all technique went flying out the window!]]>

I guess I must have good old childbearing hips lol.]]>

But I do remember I was breathing loud like you see on all the TV shows and my midwife told me not to as it wastes energy. I was surprised by how quiet the actual pushing part was, none of the screaming and panting you see on TV at all!]]>
