DD is 2 in September and has started doing similar stuff - dry when she wakes up from naps but wees five minutes later, telling us when she has done a wee or poo or sometimes just before. We got her a small toilet seat just because I thought it would be more of a natural transition to the toilet than a potty when she is bigger. I haven't got her a stool, just lift her up there. We only take her on the toilet if she asks, which she does a couple of times a day, and she only does anything maybe once a day, but we figure just go with the flow. She's really funny now - her latest thing is waiting until we've settled her on the seat then looking up and saying 'go away!' and 'shut the door!' because she wants privacy on the toilet! So funny!
I let her come to the toilet with me so she can learn by watching - TMI maybe, but I figure it's a good way to teach her.
I was going to hold out for summer as well, but if she wants to go now then I'll let her lead.

She's now into her 2nd week of cold turkey no nappy and today she came home from daycare in the same outfit I sent her in - no accidents at all and 6 wees on the toilet
My only advice is don't rush her, don't make her sit on the toilet/potty if she doesn't want to and even if she does have an accident, put her on the toilet/potty afterwards and explain (as much as you can to an under 2! lol) where the wees go (in the toilet not on the floor)

I understand totally where you are coming from about missing out on helping her through a major milestone - but you still have the evenings and weekends

She loves sitting on her seat, but so far hant done anything in the loo, so doesnt get what shes meant to do there! She knows that u sit there,..get loo paper and put in down the loo,...then get off,..she puts her seat on teh ground behind the loo where we keep it, then shuts the loo, stands up on it, fluches it,..goes and washes her hands! Just doesnt actally go yet. She does this everynight before her bath,..then gets in the bath and pees!

PAFT teacher told me to include tiloeting in her rountine before each meal,..take her to the loo sit her on for a few mins,..then even if she doesnt go get her off, wash her hands then eat. She said for me to do each step myself first and get her to copy,..so I go loo,..then she does then we both go wash our hands etc.
Im not really ready for full-on toilet training cos Im sure it will be so much easier in summer, and she hates getting dressed and in winter has so many layers on,...so I only do it when she gets the seat out herself which is about twice a day.
