hehehe Deb, nope. not any more. I finished my nursing training nearly 2 years ago now. Have been working in neonatal unit here in palmy with all the tinys... ive been puting my studies off for a while now, i have 4 papers left.
but to be honest i dont even know if its what i want to do!! i mean when im finished i really cant see myself working in that field :(
i was going to be a volcanologist did a year of that then along came sarah and didnt go back to uni. :(
id LOOOOOVE to be a vet or a school dental thearapist but theres no way i can move away to study

so many aspiring midwives here - I had no idea! How cool. If it weren't for the fact that the room spins whenever I see a cut, I'd seriously consider the same. It must be such a honour. And who doesn't love a good midwife? Mine was so amazing I keep in touch every now and then with pics of Ella still!

I'm so envious of all of you who know what you want to do and are going for it! James, I am a kindy/ECE teacher and it is the BEST!

I have always studied part-time and worked and there are so many colleges now that offer correspondence, or online learning, or going to classes one day a week. I currently have the Diploma of teaching, but am thinking of studying towards the Bachelor in the next couple of years. Good luck!

LOL me too...sick of working, sick of having to work, and trying to win lotto is exhausting LOL!

I was in education of some sort for 22 years there is no way I am ever going to retrain for anything now after all that!

) I would love to stay home with my kiddies a bit longer but I would like to earn some money some time in the future. I've always wanted to be a midwife and I figure why not do it now.

well i aint studying to be anything ,except clairvoyant so i can figure out the winning lotto numbers,id like to say i will aim high and achieve great things, but quite honestly , i would like to just sit at home and never go to work again .

But hell, im hardly a lazybum, before i give myself too much flack, i HAVE worked fulltime for the last four years, and am NZ qualified in what i do .

I would be studying right now if i didnt miss the course i want to do. wish i knew there was only one a year cause now i have to put off going to england.
BUT next year ill start studying to be a Vet nurse! Yay!

Oooo you forgot me. I hav planned to be a midwife since I was 14 and still on my journey to get there. Decided on the nursing background first which suits a young family esp a single parent one hehehehe.

Me studying is me not wanting to go back to work.

For me changing to Health Sciences is a big thing as I hated really hated science at high school but as I do want to one day become a MW I need to get over that and start now. And I want a challenge.

For me it's been something I've wanted to do for 7 years...I had just put it off when I got married and became a mum...now I'm at a point where I've realised I still want it and I want it badly...that's what keeps me motivated and focused.

For me, I just can't say no, is how I got to here.

I had HUGE bad problems with BF, and had a great experience with our lactation consultant here, who later on asked me to help run the BF group I now help run (I went along to it from when J was a baby) and I can't say no. then the DHB rang and asked if I wanted to help out with this other thing, and I just can't say no. I figure it will help me get to my goal in a roundabout kind of way.
For me, the whole lactation thing is cos I was one of the 2 to 5 % of women who couldn't physically BF, but I did and if I can do it, any bloody one can, so I want to help. Plus I love it. Its about Passion, like anything in life.

You know what you do Deb? You make BEAUTIFUL children and you ar a geat advocate or BF and Cloth nappies. And you are fantastically honest. You could do something with that?

I have just read about fattartsrock's aspirations, we have mum2paris training to be a midwife, many of you have set up websites selling your own unique products, heaps more are doing training of some sort to further themselves in early childcare and/or education, andie with her fabulous way of getting more support for allergies etc, paws wanting to be a policeman.
