as a preschool teacher i can say most(not all) children settle better if they go regularly with not a big gap in between..though some kids just love being there for a longer period:)

the rates are stupid aren't they:( and yeah Bobbie the invention of 20 free hours stopped lots of centres doing part time..no idea why...though it is more confusing if the child is their part-time..it may be great for parents but its useless for centres:(

I have recently put Jaymie in for 2 days at daycare, Monday's and Wednesdays, originally from 9-4. We found that the break between Wednesday and the next Monday was too long, and was really hindering her settling in. So I have reduced the hours on Monday and Wednesday, and she goes for 3 hours on a Friday. The change has been immediate, she has settled so much better and is now happy at daycare. Bum! Someone snapped up one of the afternoons, so he's booked in for every Thursday 1.30-5.30. The only other option was Monday morning but I can't go to work then as I share offices with someone else and she works mornings.

Apparently they're going to put me on the waiting list for another afternoon so that'll be good. i have often wondered if i should put charli in for whole days rather than half...but she sleeps (sometimes!) in the afternoon anyway so thought she might as well sleep at home for free

Just ringing a daycare place now, to put Jack in either 2 half days or one full day a week. Otherwise I can't get work done as he won't sleep at work anymore and I miss DH so much at the moment that I can't imagine tearing myself away from him when he's actually home. :)Esp seeing as he's supposed to be going to Germany for 6 weeks in the next 3-4 months.

So daycare it is. It's cheaper to put in for 1 day (with WINZ subsidy for 9 hours its $6.40 per week) vs two 1/2 days (arvos) at $13.40 per week. I know its only $7 but I don't wanna spend the extra. But two 1/2 days would be better than one full one I reckon. What would you do?

And OMG I just realised I spelt 'halfs' not 'halves'. Such a good role model to those kids I'll be teaching in a couple of years!
