I had a classic a week ago when I was only just over 4wks preg! Thats how I knew lol

I got our gas bottle refilled. Got in car and proceded to tell my sister that was the most expensive fill I've ever had, and we chatted about that as I drove home. Then a couple hours later we got in the car to take her home, and I thought "wheres my gas bottle?"..lol, i'd left it behind at servo! Can't believe I drove away talking about the bottle while I just left it there.
Went down to servo who said they'd noticed it still on forecourt an hour after I left so locked it up. Hehe, I love these stories! I've found it's got worse in the last trimester (and it gets worse after baby comes ). I have two that I do constantly - Toast goes in the toaster - doesn''t get put down and I wander into the kitchen several minutes later wondering where my toast is; leaving the oven elements on. I've just noticed mine kicking in, I got over charged by $4 in the chemist last night and then again by $4 when I was buying dinner and didn't notice until I'd got home.

Today at work I've found it really hard to email, listen to the radio, listen to my manager and text my partner all at the same time. Something up until now was quite easy.

For me it was definitely worst in the first trimester, and probably the last couple of weeks of pregnancy too. I reckon fatigue has a lot to do with it.

Yep when I was pregnant I just forgot how to spell so I figured I was getting off easy (except for one time when I ran the washing machine with the plug in the sink and flooded the garage). But then Nappy brain kicked in and boy oh boy is that something.

I constantly wash and rewash my hair/face as I forget whether I've done it or not as soon as I've done it. I too brush my teeth twice or not at all

I damn near set up an infinite loop with my email accounts by creating a strange auto forward rule and then deciding to test it out. Well........I  

1.redirected our mail from our new address to our new address

2. gave out my bank account details on trademe but instead of using logical numbers (aka my numbers) I just made them up!

 

edited to add the  face instead of the  as the  indicated you needed to get a hidden meaning.....which there isnt and would totally confuse the baby brains amongst us.

 

Good thing is......Tom appears to have found my missing brain and seems quite switched on.  So baby brain is not in vain (it rhymes!)

I was a big sufferer of baby brain and definately have nappy brain now. Lists became my best friend while I was working. Now I can walk from the kitchen to the hall and forget where I was supposed to be going, and our house is not very big! yip I totally have baby brain! I went to start cooking dinner last night and found the bag of potatoes in the freezer! went to blame DH of couse then realised we cooked our own dinners the night before and I used the potatoes not him!

I have also read that memory of a pregnant person compared to a non pregnant person is the equilivilant to the memory of a 21 year old compared to a 60 year old!

Sorry Ginger - but I'm with everyone else. It lasts the whole pregnancy and then into the nappy stage and even now (almost 5 years later) I'm doing stupid things - but that could be I'm pg again.

Mine didn't kick in until about 32 weeks with my first when I started doing things like filling up my water bottle to drink and then putting it in the dishwasher, sitting back down again to rest and wondering where my bottle was.

And the biggest thing when I was pg the first time - was my words. I was a trainer at the time and forgetting my words or not being able to articulate myself properly was incredibly frustrating and embarrassing at times.

But as I said - I seem to be doing 'odd' things constantly already in this pg. PS someone was saying your brain mass reduces 40% while pregnant and beyond, so we have a valid excuse! altho don't quote me on the 40% coz I can't remember the exact figure they used!

What happens is you get baby-brain, then you get nappy-brain, then you move onto mummy-brain then you start suffering from dementia and/or alzheimers.

Me too - and it gets worse once the baby comes and you are psychotic with sleep deprivation!

Just a couple of examples of what my baby brain/nappy brain has had me do:

1. Fill up car at petrol station, remove hose from car, drive 5kms up road with cap on roof. (baby brain)

2. Make my weetbix for breakfast. Replace weetbix in fridge, milk in cupboard. Not realise until breakfast time next day. (baby brain)

3. Sitting on sofa in pj's at 7.30pm at night. Knock on door. Open door to friends coming over for dinner that I had arranged a week ago and TOTALLY forgotten about. (nappy brain)

I honestly always thought that 'baby brain' was largely something pregnant women talked about as an excuse to talk about their pregnancies    I mean, I imagined there was an element of truth to it, but you know how it's nice to have an excuse to talk about baby?
