We use fenpaed for teething now, pamol doesn't do jack these days.

When you take him to the docs ask for Phenegan, I agree that it is great stuff. Hope Lucas has settled for you a bit Steph, I completely agree with the baby nurofen - its great and much better for teething, and the welda powder is great too.

We freeze banana's (or 1/2 the banana) on an Ice cream stick and its fantastic for teething, meant she is getting the coldness of it without all the sugar.

As for the operation, I was pretty much going to say what Annie said, it can be done so would try talking to the surgeon /docs about what the options are.

Hope your parents help out a wee bit - I admire you heaps!

FYI I had surgery under a general anesthetic when Char was about 5 months old. It can ve done, the feeding etc, it is hard though. You need to talk about it with the anethetist, but it can be done, I promise! You can eithr pump and dump for a bit or wait 6 hours to feed or somethign like that. I had first surgery of the day (9.30) and fed her around 4pm. I did find the night times hard though as you have to work your pain meds in around your feeds and I was woozy and needed someone to sit in the hopsital with me to hand her and help postiion her. I did have abdominal surgery though. The morphine made it hard to stay awake, but I did it, and the next day I was fine and went home.
It is worth checkign out.
AND I totally reccomend brufen as well for teething.

I've only got a small taste of what you have to go through at the mo (Dh away all of this month) so big hugs to you! Jack cut his first tooth yesterday and the 2 weeks leading up to it were absolute hell.

If it gets really bad, there's always baby fenergan its what mum used to use on us. It's like a mild sedative. Mine was done during the day but they kept me in overnight. Mind you I had excessive bleeding and was only 10 at the time.

Tell your parents to give you a break that you are doing everything that you can to help him and it would be good if they could be a little more supportive!

It might not only be his teeth, it could be his ears as well.

If all as fails go for a drive around the block a couple of times.

Pamol does nothing much for teething here either. Weleda teething powder is pretty good though.

Oh poor you and lucas. I feel for both of you, Im getting a wisdom tooth at the mo and geez louis it hurts.

Cant offer much support, none of my Nanny kids suffered with bad teething... bonjela did the trick.

there are other teething remedies. weleda do a powder.
maybe an ice block to help numb the pain for a while and to give you some rest from the screaming.

Right now I am so over being a mother. Don't get me wrong I love my little man but he has been screaming ALL DAY LONG!

And we are not talking a normal scream, I am talking 'screaming like he is being murdered'. No temperature or symptoms ... very swollen gums and two teeth are just sitting waiting to come through, one of them actually looks like it has pierced through already.

I'm totally at my wits end, my parents are getting sh*tty at me telling me to shut him up, no help whatsoever and I just feel like breaking down crying. The kid won't eat, he didn't sleep last night and I can tell we are in for the same ordeal tonight.

Bonjela & Pamol are useless.
