I've seen this so many times in PD (prof development) sessions and at college. I don't believe so, being a recent graduate I can tell you that today's method of teaching is all about holistic development and inquiry learning, with individual learning programmes set out for each child. I was sent this really interesting video clip - its about 20mins long, but its entertaining and thought prevoking (or at least I think it is).
