Jack has been teething for the last 8mths! He is normally worst during the night and although doesn't really cry, he just won't seem to go back to sleep. IMHO I would forget about the bonjela, Jack always seemed to suck it off my finger before I managed to get it on the gum! Weleda Teething powder seems to be good, also a wet face cloth that has been in the freezer is good to chew on. Jack could never get the hang of a dummy so I am not sure but I think I have heard of people using some sort of dummy that they fill with water and freeze or some such thing to help with teething.

He has a bedtime routine that starts anytime between 6-7pm depending on his afternoon nap. We start this as soon as we see tired signs. It has just taken me an hour to get him to sleep!
I might get some bonjela or something tomorrow - good advice, thanks.

Maybe tomorrow try a few different teething remedies like bonjela, teething powder or teethmed and see if that makes any difference.

Daniel is a horrible teether and whenever he is teething he simply must have pamol or he won't sleep.

And towards the end of the day they get worse because they are getting tired wanting sleep but can't.

    Author: sadie
Subject: 17667
Posted: 27 May 2008 at 7:40pm

Hi,
I have a little boy who is four and a half months. Until just a few days ago we've had really good bedtimes where he would self settle using a dummy, which he would then spit out when asleep so wasn't a crutch at all.
This has all gone out the window now as for some reason he is refusing the dummy completely, and will not self settle in the evenings (will for day generally). We've tried leaving him to grizzle it out, rocking, patting and shushing, white noise, colic powder. He gets all worked up and just screams inconsolably.
If I get him to sleep by feeding, he will just wake again in a few minutes screaming. Same with rocking in arms. Right now i have him down, but only after a dose of pamol (he was chewing on my finger so may be a tooth).
Anyone got any bright ideas??? I'm going to lose the plot soon....
Thanks x
