At 4 mths she was fine on S26 (readymixed in carton) but a month later I fed her the same and she was violently ill, went green and floppy and was dry-retching even after spilling her whole feed). Tried sachets of Nurture plain and she still was ill.
I don't truly know if it was the formula or a bug as she was originally fine. Pretty sure it was the formula tho as it was on more than one occasion. Also her father doesn't tolerate dairy too well (gas) and his mother told me he was on special formula when he was a baby. My guess is that she developed the intolerance over time.
I now feed her Karicare Goat 2 (6 mths onwards) for those occasional feeds and she's fine on it. She also loves it. I think it tastes a lot more like breastmilk than other formulas. Only problem is it's really expensive- $36!!. When I wean her off the breast I want to give her Organic goat formula which is $20 more again so I've kind of accepted the extra cost

Edited by Bimble

When using boiled water she was fine.

When she got home to Wellington she didn't boil because she thought the water would be fine, but her DD started spewing again. Now she is boiling again and she has stopped spewing. She is using the non-Gold Karitane formula.

Might be worth a try?

Because if it happens at all the feeds, it may not be the formula, may just be something that happened on it's own (some babies get more spilly as they get a bit older, and then it improves again). If it's just after the formula, maybe try a different formula?

An allergy you would normally expect to see some kind of skin reaction to it, like a rash, hives, ezcema as well as perhaps either breathing problems (usually only with severe reactions) and bowel problems, I think will allergies its more common to get constipation than diarhea (with the diary allergy anyway, although I could be wrong but thats what Spencer got with his.).

Hope that helps.

My baby has been fully bf until the past couple of weeks when I've starting introducing formula. She now takes about 200ml a day, over a couple of feeds.

Anyway, the problem is she has become spilly since starting on formula (Nurture Gold). Usually within 30 mins of taking it. I also see her swallowing during the day, which suggests it may be coming up.

My question is, is this a normal reaction to starting formula, or does it indicate an intolerance and should I try a different formula type?

Would value opinions please. Thanks!
