Yeah I have heard good things about the i-walk shoes too, but they are so expensive....

I spoke to a podiatrist a few months ago, and they need to be flexi for the bones in their feet. Ideally you should be able to fold them almost in half, which you can still do with harder soled shoes. One thing I look out for though is I find alot of the cheaper shoes are really really heavy,somehting that isn't that good for their wee tootsies, either. Coming from me who has had a lifetime of foot problems due to bad shoes growing up, it is one thing that is worth doing right. Dosen't have to be expensive, either, mos t of my kids shoes have been cheap, it just means choosing smarter. thanks guys. We has been walking for a 1 1/2 months now and is getting pretty god at it, so it sounds like she should be alright in hardsoled shoes.

I had a look at the gumboots in the warehouse, but everything is still too big for her (she has kind of small feet). Might check out the rest of the shoes in the warehouse the ones that you mentioned M2L sound like they will do the job- just need a cheap pair that it doesn't matter if she gets really dirty.

the thing to remember about shoes for kids is they have to fit right, wether hard or soft soled. the bones in their feet are very soft and still developing so if shoes dont fit they can affect the way their feet will develop. oh and IMO wether hard or soft they have to be flexible, not rigid...

I've had Michaela in hard soled shoes since before she started walking (the first pair were pink suede fur lined boots, I couldn't help myself).

I actually never realised that there was a problem putting little ones in hard soled shoes (and it doens't seem to have done her any harm). i think charli had been walking for a couple of months before i got her hard soled shoes. i got her ones that were 'hard soled' but still really flimsy IYKWIM?

Hey

Lucas has been in hard soled shoes for a couple of weeks now. I wanted to buy him some gummy's but we went through THREE pairs and having to return each one because it was a huge struggle to get them on his chubby feet. So I gave up and went for hard soled shoes. He appears to walk better in them too.

I don't get what the big deal about soft/hard soled shoes is.

Warehouse have some good deals on Hi-hippo hard soled shoes ...which is the same brand you pick up at #1 shoes and Baby Factory sometimes. Bub now has 6 pairs of hard soled shoes (Hi hippo brand), and wait for the best part ....each pair only set me back $4.97 and they are REALLY GOOD quality. Very cute too.

See, heres lil man wearing big boy shoes for the first time (taken a couple weeks back now) ...makes them look all grown up

At what age did your toddler start wearing hardsoled shoes and how long had they been walking for? I really have no idea how long I should keep her in soft soled shoes...they seem fine most of time, but I maybe need to look at finding her some gumboots for playing in the garden (if they even make them that small).
