no, they really do flush!

around $10 for 100, and I cut them in half so get 200 out of a roll.

I find that they can get a bit soggy, so I only put them at the business end of the nappy iykwim.

Heaps of places sell them, maybe drop into Bumbles and have a look. Much better to flush the poo away than have it sitting in your bin!

If you use flushable liners then they can go down the loo, which is what is supposed to happen with human waste anyway.

Yes I would double rinse. My machine does it automatically anyway

On the back of the nappy you will see some rectangled felt type fabric. Get into the habit of putting the velcro tabs onto these straight after taking nappy off bub, then you don't have to wade through dirty nappies before you put in the machine

otherwise you will get a snake of nappies and inserts all attached to each other, and that is very annoying!

As for liners...I couldnt see the point in having a nice soft fabric to go next to baby's bum and then putting a scratchy liner in between. I did use microfleece liners when
I used prefolds but that was more as a stay dry thing.

I only needed a second insert (hemp) when Tomwas about 6 months.

There was packaging but they decided not to do that as there were too many complaints about the plastic, so just gone back to the cardboard wrap.

When prewashing your nappies, you obviously don't need to do a pre rinse (to get off any residue as they are clean) so I would just follow the instructions on your care of nappies, except for the pre rinse

.

Do a full wash with 1/2 the amount of detergent you normally would use (pref enzyme free) and I would do the double rinse at the end to make sure everything is washed out.

Put them through a warm wash first and do a second rinsse to get rid of all detergent, dy them and they are ready to use!! (I thought there was washing instructions on the packaging - other wise have alook on Bumbles web site, or Mothers Instinct etc for washing info). Although I know some people can often be too excited by a new nappy to wait until they've been washed!!!

KA we use the Johnsons disposable liners and I cut them in half length-ways so a pk of 100 (about $9/$10) makes 200 which lasts us maybe 2-3 months. Jack poos about 3 times a day (esp with the teething) and I def wouldn't go without a liner. He a smoosher too so it's a lot easier to just chuck out the poo and then scrub any bits of the nappy that need it. A lot less work too if bubs poos aren't solid enough to just fall off into the toilet.

During the day I use the normal liner which last about 4 hours, and at night I boost that with 2 of the newborn inserts as I haven't got any other ones at the moment. I use the Johnsons liners from the supermarket. They were great when Jack was little as the nappy was alot cleaner. We did go through a stage when they were alot firmer and it seemed pointless, but with this latest lot of teeth it has all turned alot softer and smellier

You haven't seen Jacks poo by the time I catch him its smooshed right into his nappy so a liner is a must here, none actually comes off just by shaking it over the loo.

Yup, gremlins are smooshers too

Add in the fact that they poop on average 3 times each a day and you'll see why I use liners

It depends on how heavy a wetter your child is. I purchased four extra inserts because they take longer to dry than the BGs. If it is not going to just 'roll off' then a liner makes it much easier to deal with if you don't fancy the idea of rinsing.
As for the extra insert - depends how much he wets, takes some trial and error to find the right combination of inserts and how many you will need.

I'm definately on the use liners side here, I get flushable ones so the whole lot goes.

Had lots of trouble early on this pregnancy dealing with naps, so have just got back into it again and yesterday had a 4 poo day! Not nice, today was back to normal - thank goodness was nearly enough to put me off again!

During the day I just use the 2 inserts that come with the BG (the cotton babies OSFA & the newborn doubler) and that does Livvy just fine.

We don't use liners either but Livvy only poos every 3-4 days so we don't have to deal with much poo. I don't use liners (only have used them when Josh was having heavy duty clean on his butt) but it is an each to their own.

I have to have 2 inserts in Josh's nappy, but try 1 and see how long it lasts and then try 2 see what works for you.

We never use liners. I have a couple but they have never been touched.

I agree with Vic, just see how long one insert lasts and go from there.

When Leo first started in cloth (5mths) he was fine with just one insert. I didn't need to add a booster until around 10-11mths when he started teething and wetting more. Just see how you go with the one insert first, if it's sopping or leaking under 2hrs then you'll need something else. You can boost easily & cheaply with microfibre cleaning cloths (sold in bulk at Mitre 10 Mega in the cleaning section) or you can buy slim hemp boosters off TM without adding too much bulk. i get my 15 BG's today or tomorrow.. excited yet scared to use them...doing just daytime cloth to start off with:)

do you guys recommend an extra insert in them? I have a great friend (thankyou :) ) who will sew me some liners and stuff.. or shall i get flushable liners or what?:) I am pretty clueless..
