Oh hun its a natural thing to blame yourself but honestly its not your fault. And at least they are on to this relatively earlier on rather than when he began school etc....

If it's any help, I know that a lot of teacher aides at primary schools have been doing Professional Development on Dyspraxia over the last few years and are getting really clued up on how to deal with it. I have taught a girl with Dyspraxia (motor and slight verbal) and while it was hard for her, she was making excellent progress.

Big hugs. My sister's oldest was diagnosed with dyspraxia (must be verbal and motor, I think) about 3 years ago (she is 5 now and has just started school). She got into a really good programme through the Champion Centre at Burwood hospital here in Christchurch and improved out of sight. I don't know where you are, but its likely other cities have similar programmes, and with the right input from physios, speech and language therapists, play specialists etc. you will see a dramatic improve. All the best with James and his therapy, he will get there! My brother didn't really speak until after he started school, he had to go through intense speech therapy also. He got there in the end, he's now 15 and you can't even tell he was a late starter!

Just curious how did you know he had to be tested and how early did his speech difficulties become apparent?
