Yep try your parents centre. Im the membership officer for whangarei and if you phone the membership officer in your region they will put you into a coffee group with babies all your boys name. Parents centre also runs a playgroup as part of your yearly membership. I would suggest finding a playgroup to join. I am lucky enough to have THE BEST coffee group from antenatal which I would highly recommend anyone expecting to join. It's a shame you missed yours bonz. I actually was never going to go to ours only hubbie made me and I was a bit like you, it's hot blah blah blah..... Lucky he made me.
It is the after the classes are done and dusted that the support, compansionship etc really has it's benefits.

Anyway - sorry raving. I also now go to a playgroup run by the Salvation Army that has all ages however you will tend to meet and mix more with mums who have bubs the same age as you. At ours there are newborns through to 4years and they have areas and activities to suit all. Churches usually have great playgroups and support groups (don't have to join their church or anything.

As already metioned check with Plunket and also look on the notice boards when your there for whats going on. A couple of girls in my group made contact through their plunket nurse who told them about others in their area of the same age.

Hey there.
Try your local Parent's Centre, or ask your plunket nurse to hook you up with a group. They often have plunket run groups or know of some going with babies around the same age. Also, our plunket has a nice drop in centre wher you can self weigh bubs and feed change etc. I found I met lots of mums there. Okay so it is probably my own fault. I dropped out of antenatal classes because they were only on at 7 oclock at night and went for 2 1/2 hours each session. And at 7 months preggers in the middle of summer I thought blow this! But now I am paying for it because I never had a coffee group. My girlfriend took me to hers last week and it was lovely but my wee man is 8 mths older than the other babies and he couldn't really do anything cos he just wanted to squeeze all the babies! It is not so much for me it is for my little boy to get that interaction with kiddies his own age. Is there anyone else that has had this?
