Author: emz
Subject: 18262
Posted: 16 June 2008 at 4:05pm

I think Peanut probably depends I guess, most jobs that friends have applied for you have to have PR before you apply as it can take 4 months which is too long and you need it to complete more than 10 days of teaching. But cool if you got it for free, I'd be stoked!

Tara - my cousin (who I said about before) is in her 2nd year (supposed to be 3rd) and is due with her 1st baby in a few weeks. She's taking a year off then will go back. A lot of places offer discounts for care if you work there. But I think (and someone correct me) that if your child is in under 2's, you have to work in over 2's and vice versa.

I say go for it aswell. Teaching is so rewarding. I've only just completed my primary training last year but I'm just itching to get out there and get a job (although will be another year or two).

I say go for it! its also a great job to have when you have your own kids as you can work with or nearby your own children. i did the bachelor of education through auckland teachers college whichi was fulltime in class but there are options out there like NZ tertiary college which does it by correspondence and block courses which might suit you being a mum as well.

They also pay for your registration whereas primary schools don't, so that's a bonus!
