My MW suggested staying clear of OJ, cabbage and chocolate (obviously lots of chocolate) these days I haven't noticed a correlation between Blair's grizzly days and anything I've eaten. I tend to have 2 breakfasts - a slice of toast when feeding Blair his solids why waste power using the toaster.. and then have a proper breaky later - amd also make sure I get an afternoon tea as well - even if it's just jam sammies

I still tend to eat a bit more than I did, but not as much as I did prior to conception.

    Author: BuzzyBee
Subject: 18281
Posted: 16 June 2008 at 2:22pm

For those of you that are breastfeeding & have done so in the past - Did you stick to a strict diet whilst nursing? Or did you just carry on eating the foods you like and avoid anything that may have upset bub?

I've never really dieted, but I aim to eat veges nearly everyday, wholegrain bread/toast & pasta. I'm not a big fan of fruit but I've been pushing for at least an apple a day recently.

My downfall is that I graze on food throughout the day, half the time I swear I end up eating out of boredom & this is where the problem starts.I'm really weak when it comes to chocolate or bikkies. I can polish off a family size Cadbury bar in one foul swoop. Until now I haven't really thought of how that could be affecting my milk.

By all means I don't eat fatty food non-stop. Takeaways/Pizza are a treat only once over a period of 1-2weeks. But I do tend to graze of naughty foods often and eat fattening dishes/ foods without giving it a second thought. I really want to cut the butter out of my diet too because I know I have way too much (blame my mother, she's a butter freak and plies all our food with lashings of the stuff)

Has there been any study in to a breastfeeding mother's diet and to what extent our eating habits effect our babies later on in life?

It's really starting to eat me up and I know it's a bit late when the boy is already 15months ...

TIA
