Pepsi - I did post but cant remember where now....basically I *think* that as I was loading the shopping into the car someone walked past and grabbed a bag out of my trolley. If thats not the case then some very strong little fairies magically carried it off......and are having a roaring party with a tin of formula, some soap powder, some deoderant and some handsoap.....the mind boggles! Wink

I rang the supermarket and they were like..."so what do you want us to do about it....", I rang the local police station and they pretty much laughed at me, as I hadnt actually seen anyone do it, so I *could* have lost the bag somehow??!??!?!!?

Which Westpac is that? Well I had groceries pinched out of my trolley recently, so I am now extra vigilant when I go to the supermarket. Its tough when you have a baby to worry about too. But I dont put the bags in the boot now, I put the trolley down the side of the car and put open both doors and stick the groceries on the seat and floor. IYKWIM. That way I dont have to worry about taking O out of the trolley and leaving it un-attended where I cant see it. I am a bit paranoid - mainly because I am terrified that someone in a desperate state wouldnt think twice about putting a baby at risk!

I esp feel for the people who work in small dairys in rough neighbourhoods, they are most at risk. The dairy just a few houses away from my mums house has a security guard that stands outside during opening hours. there is also securtiy outside the westpac bank on the same street.  It is sooo awful!

I guess that is the worst case scenario, people getting so desperate that they resort to theft.
Maybe I'm still deluded but I don't really feel any less safe than I did before.
I do feel a lot poorer though. Wow, that's shocking! 

We were at a petrol station awhile ago and some guy walked up to the pump next to us, filled up a watering can with petrol then ran off. 

DH told the service station assistant that a guy on foot had just stolen petrol and the assistant said "did you get his licence plate number?"

This is kind of a spin-off from the Home Brand thread.
There was a comment made about how it's sign of the times that all the cheaper stuff is racing out the doors...

DH was at the supermarket the other night.
He watched a guy, with a trolley FULL of groceries just walk out! He just waltzed out of the supermarket with it! The CHEEK!
The staff saw him, but a little too late. A security guard ran after him but he got away, but not before grabbing an arm load of stuff and bolting.

DH mentioned it to the checkout operator a couple of nights later.
DH: Did you ever catch that guy that took all the groceries the other night?
Checkout Op: Which one? We had 3 do it.


I don't know about anyone else, but I'm at the point now where I'm too scared to go into the bank or an ATM, petrol station, small dairy etc.. for fear that some deperate person is going to hold up the place
