Ours is free up to age 6 and I *think* I pay $33 with a CSC? I don't know coz I don't go to the doc all that often myself and I get it back from Southern Cross anyway. Don't know about maternity visits as I've never had to see my GP for anything preg related except when she sent me to hospital a couple of weeks ago and she didn't charge me for that.

White Cross are all free for 0-6 during the day, there is a surcharge if you go after 6pm or on the weekend. I'm pretty lucky, all my GP visits are free, and will be the same when I have the baby.

But then again, I study full time, and work also, so my student health levy pays for itself. I am lucky that I have a GP at the student health centre that is so nice and understanding.....

So am not looking forward to paying for GP visits in 2 to 3 years time... Mine is free for the boys and as my GP is the bestest in the world down here (well thats what I think) he doesn't charge me when I see him with the boys. But if I do have to make an appointment with him then it is $27 to see him (that is a student consult).

We go to the Glenfield medical centre as well. I think we must see the dr who has taken over during the materity leave. I can't recall her name atm, but she seemed really nice and was really good with Ella.

Thats good to know Glenfield White Cross are free. I'm sure the White Cross in Milford is $20 - not sure if that is for certain hours though.

I go to Archers Medical Centre in Glenfield and they are free for under 5's and $30 for adult.

I haven't read what everyone else has said buy i used to pay $5 a visit for Lycan during the week and if we went to the drop in clinic on Saturdays it was $10 but now since the new subsidy has come in Lycan is free till he is 5 and it's $5 on a Saturday. Kabe, I see Anna Catherwood at Glenfield Medical Centre, however she is on Maternity Leave at the moment. Their charges are $26 if you are registered or $50+ if you're not. Children cost $5.

Robyn- is that the white cross in Glenfield? I noticed that they were free as well....which I thought was odd considering we go to the doctors just down the road from there and they charge $10. Would have thought it would be the other way round.

I'm on the North Shore and they charge $5. I noticed when I took her to the White Cross place next door on a weekday, that it was free there.

Free for Tom, $25 for me, nothing for maternity visits (unless you get a locum who charged me when my POAS came up negative even though my blood test was positive).

 

Our pharmacist also doesnt seem to charge for Tom's prescriptions.

I wouldn't even know how much my doctor charges as my mum pays the bill Score! I know that there is some sort of charge, and it's something like $50 for adults. My GP in Avondale is free for under 5 and $25 for me and hubby - but you have to register as part of the PHO scheme. Taking my daughter to another doctor after hours costs $15.

Our GP is $20.00 for Daniel and $40.00 for me, in Mt Eden but happy to spend that as our GP is wonderful.  We took Daniel to A & E this week coz we couldn't get into the doctor and that was free coz he was under 5.

my maternity visits were free, its $5 for 0-6yrs and $22 for me
which is ok but sure adds up when youve been over 14 times in 3 weeks!!!!!!!!!

Spencer is free until he is 6 and all my visits that are maternity related are also totally free. It's amazing what a range of different rates there are from free to $16. It also depends what scheme they are signed up with but as above they can charge a surcharge for anything really.

My Dr's is free for maternity and free for children under 5, $10 for over 5's

I think they get subsidised by the govt but then it's up to the GP whether they want to add anything on to that.

Appointments for Chloe are free at ours.

In order to get free maternity visits your Dr has to be registered specially... so some are free and some aren't (even in the same clinics). The 2 different doctors I have taken Ella to (have just changed) have both charged $10.

Some doctors don't do the maternity thing. I know when I got pregnant I went to my doctor and expected it to be free, but they advised they didn't partake in the maternity thing with the government so I had to pay the normal amount So could have told me that when I made the appointment!

My doctor was free for maternity. If your not registered as a patient (as in casual) your charged $15 for kids under 5, if you are registered its free or like $5

The government subsidises a certain amount I think, then if GP's feel they want to charge over that amount, the poor patient has to fit the bill, so depends on individual practices.

I just got back from taking Thomas to the GP and it cost $7. I thought it was supposed to be free for under 5's? I remember my GP in Newmarket for me used to charge $60, and had a maternity surcharge for all pg appointments of I think it was about $30 and my understanding is that for the first 12 weeks it should be free! Just wondering what your GP charges for those of you with babies/pre-schoolers? Two GPs I've taken my baby to charged $15. I was under the impression that it should be free for under fives. I'm wondering if it's more expensive in Akld.
