I did the teach them gently thing when my boys went through this, it works eventually.

Just thought I'd share a "what not to do". A friend of mines eldest boy whos just gone 3yrs wouldn't stop biting his younger brother, mum lots patience and bit him back to show him how it's not nice. Kal was a hitter & bitter as well, i would just say "no, gentle hands"or" owchies that hurts" etc & remove or distract him.

Totally normal. What I use to do is take McKayla's hand gently and say Owie rather do this and open her fingers up if it was close so it is a flat hand and will let her rub my face gently.

They dont have total control yet and dont know their own strength. Caitlyn went through a stage of not being gentle ,i just said

You could try removal, its what they suggest when they bite breastfeeding, just to remove them from you and put them on their own for a few seconds. Spencer didn't care when I tried this, he's quite happy to go play on his own but it works for some bubbas. I would keep up with saying no as well, it takes a while but they do get it in the end. It is also good to get in to the habit of explaining why you are saying no. Phoenix has just started this... I think at the same time he is trying to explore, but I have noticed he has become quite rough. He will quite often whack me in the face and scratch me, he doesn't seem to do it to anyone else, apart from Daddy from time to time.

I might refer to my Jo Frost book and see what she has to say about it. Same here but Tom wll actually push your face around to where HE wants it....kind of funny.  AND he has started biting me...ouch!! Daniel did this but I've mostly stopped it. Yeah Spencer does this as well, especially if he is throwing a strop about me removing him from somewhere/something he shouldn't be touching. If he is in a mood I just ignore him and put him down somewhere safe as he isn't in a listening state, if its when we are playing then I say "no that hurts mummy" and then I take his hand and touch my face gently and say "gentle" to him and praise him for it. So far it doesn't really work but I figure I will stick with it and hopefully he will get the message. Jett does this as well!!  If I want to kiss him, I have to be real quick, and hold his hands away from me, or he'll grab my face & scratch!  Ouch!  I've had a few marks left from him.  He's been doing this for a while too.  He does it to other babies his age.  He's a bully already!

Is it normal for Kylah to be hitting and scratching at such a young age. As soon as your face gets close she smacks you, or scratches really hard. She will smack anywhere but the face is where she goes for.

How can i get her to stop?
