Last night I tried pinning up the arm holes in a sleeping bag but didn't feel bery good about it so it only lasted about half an hour. The babies hands are covered and don't have to be locked down at their side, but they are secure.. some start by still tucking their arms into the safety sleep. I haven't used one of them before, but I think if it works, AWESOME! :)
I have a mum who's just bought a Peke Moe for her baby who was wrapped and on tummy! and she's really pleased that the Peke Moe will allow her to stay 'covered' within it but use her hands/arms while on her tummy.!
All the best! :)

That's exactly what I did/do with all four of my babies and it didn't do them any harm! I'd swaddle them then put them in the safety sleep to keep them in, and I do it right from birth so they get used to it. Using the safety sleep also made transitioning from swaddling much easier.

Now he is in the pekemoe at night and nothing during the day.

(I will bring one for you to borrow on Tuesday :))

Once they start getting out of the wrap and waking regularly to be 'rewrapped'then you can try some options
1.loosenging wrap at nap times to start with
2. wrapping only one arm
3. going cold turkey!
4. putting baby into a sleeping bag, but pinning arm holes shut to start with.
5. Try a Peke Moe! :)
some babies transition immediately, others take quite a while. I have a great feedback page on my website if you want more info on the peke moe.
All the best! :)
Gina

I was wondering whether or not he just knows now its bedtime and doesn't want to go there.

We wrapped Lockie until he was 10 months old and just waited for him to wean himself off it..

Sorry can't really help you on that one. But am tempted to try the one arm thing with Liam. Tried both arms free again this morning and man I think I paid for it all day.

She gets quite grumpy when you start to wrap her, her sleeps have gotton a bit shorter and I'm sure there was somrthing else but I can't for the life of me remember now.

So I thought I'd ask all you helpful ladies about the best way to wean them off a wrap, and when to know if they are ready not to be wrapped. Also is it something they need to learn to get used to?

TIA

Edited by Tiff
