top are easier in some ways not with complicated ones tho.

if you want to get them all out, your best to go and get your dentist to have a llook first, as sonetimes they can be impacted or just dam hard to get at, theyl probably send you for a panex xray to see where the others are lying if they havnt come thru yet.
we do $150 per tooth for a strait forward extraction
under local
under general would be a couple of grand.
if you get it done under general it works out better to get them all out at once.

My dentist said the bottom ones were harder to get out than the top ones as well. He removed one of my top ones and I didn't even know he had. I thought he was just poking it a bit and then he goes "all done" WTF!!

Not sure about the wisdom tooth filling in the gap. I guess it would depend on the size of the gap but I doubt that it would fill the gap totally. yeah none of the others are coming thru or even giving me probs at all. I got all mine out one at a time with local and it cost me $180 each time. Would just get them out as they broke thru. One was impacted and I have a very small mouth (had to have 4 teeth out just to fit my teeth in my mouth before brace) but they still manged to get them out just fine. I used to work as a dental assistant. It was years ago so can't quote prices but they can definately take out just the one that is bothering you.

If the tooth has started coming though it might mean that it isn't impacted which will be cheaper and easier.

When you opt for a general, they normally take out all the wisdom teeth at a time - just so they don't cause problems later.

I got all 4 out under a general through the hospital. I had to go on a waiting list for a while...not too long though....about 3 months from memory. I had mine out the week before last. I got quoted (all 4) $3000 for general, and got denied public hospital care because we earn too much. Could've fooled me.

I ended up (stupidly!) opting for sedation and a local. My dentist told me I'd have to go to an oral surgeon because he didn't offer sedation. I was awake for the whole thing,and remember every small detail. That cost me $1500. I'm glad that I got them all out at the same time, because I wouldn't have gone back!

If the others aren't affecting you, you probably won't need them out. The dentist/oral surgeon will advise you.

I was at the dentists last week for this. I had an infection back there, got an xray and the tooth is only very slightly impacted (stuck, can't get right up past the other tooth).
Cost to get it removed with local anaesthetic is $140 ($30 consultation and $110 extraction)
I've just about finished the antibiotics to clear upthe infection and will book in sometime in the next few weeks to get it out. I didn't get all the others xrayed ... haven't had any probs with them so far!! TOUCH WOOD!!!

I was given a sedative..the procedure took about an hour but only seemed like 5 minutes..I was conscious but wasn't really aware of what was happening.

up to you they can do either way i had three out and 6 fillings done for 840 but that was about 8 years ago.i had that stuff that makes you forget but not anesthetic ...so i did remember bits of talking to him etc.. If you want general you need to have an oral surgeon (this is what my dentist told me). A normal dentist doesn't have the qualifications to administer the general, so they tend to use a sedative instead. I've been quoted $2.5k to get all 4 of mine out (3 impacted and 1 not even presenting itself) under a general at the local Southern Cross. Or your local hospital sometimes has a waiting list which works out about $600 for all 4 (here in the Naki anyway) under a general. DH had all 4 taken out under general for about a grand.

I think it works out cheaper to get them all out at once because you have to pay for the drugs and operating room charge etc once.

Ok ladies - have had probs with a rogue tooth for ages on and off but it's now actually broken thru the surface of the gum and has pushed another tooth about, so, how much have you guys paid to get them pulled out?   is it cheaper for just 1 tooth? or do they just get it over and done with at the same time and take em all out?

Also, did they put you under or was it local anaesthetic?
