I've had one surgery for Endo a few years ago, and my DH was meant to be infertile because of steroids he's on (he has Addison's disease) and we got preggers within 4 months of trying!! Not only that but we were using condoms after the birth of our little girl and managed to get preg again already *by accident*. LOL. So there is definitely hope.

I think it depends on the severity though, my sister had endo but had it terribly bad and had to have a hysterectomy when she was only 24

But don't count your chickens, I had it mildly (they thought it might be cysts too) and I didn't have any trouble getting preg!

ETA: I was on a low GI diet too but for blood sugar probs... I was under the impression it was more of a factor with ovarian cysts but may help with endo, *shrug*

Interesting Emma - how prem were your siblings? My doc has believed I've had endo for many years but we decided not to do anything about it until after I've finished my family (or until I feel the need to hurt someone because of the pain ). My mum had severe endo and had no difficulties getting pregnant. Hey, I've had 2 operations for endometriosis - the last lot they removed was the size of a grapefruit! hey there......i hope your resting up after your surgery...i've had 2 now and they are more painful than a c/s!

i have endo and PCOS and was told if i didn't conceive after 6mths of trying, then to go back to the specialist and they'd help...........but both my kids were 'first night trying' babies!!

so try not to worry, just yet.....wait and see what happens, you may not have any problems at all

We also have the male factor as he's subfertile. We've been trying for the last 18months and will continuing to try. Once I can actually walk again. Gosh it's been sore!

Believe it or not, endometriosis only affects fertility in around 20% of women - I found this out at a fertility seminar a couple of years ago.

For myself, I have endo and No. 9 is an IVF baby BUT we had male factor infertility to contend with as well. My specialist believed that without the male factor, we would have been ok (and vice versa too of course - without my endo, the male factor may not have been such an issue).

Hi Konagirl,

I don't have endo myself but my older sister does and she has 3 sons. 

The first was born before she was diagnosed and the younger 2 were born several years later after her operation to remove the endo. 

From what I understand (and I might not have been listening properly so someone else should confirm this) is that your endo won't grow back when you're pregnant.

I have other friends with endo too that found a low gluten diet (ie. avoiding wheat, rye, barley or oats) helped them and according to my mum my sis was basically following a gluten free diet when she concieved her first child, which is why she didn't have a hard time TTC like she did with the next one (and also why her endo wasn't picked up earlier).

Hi everyone,

I went in to have surgery on a painful ovarian cyst last week and it turns out I have endo. The cyst was from it as well as areas of scarring around area including a blocked right tube. I'm so damn sore right now but also of course a little worried about weather we'll have a preg without IVF. The doc thought our best chance will be in the next few months. So just wondering who else is is a similar position and any suggestions you might have.
