Jake was three months old in japan. they were really good. I would recommend it Ana, if not for work, for your sanity. it's nice t have one day a week to myself - even if it is with Taine...he's quiet! But seriously, it is great for me and Jake to have a little time apart.

BTW anyone interested in finding out about your daycares (or kindys) the government conducts reports on every childcare centre, kjindergarten, kohanga, school in New Zealand, and you can read these reports.

I was reading about the kohanga Jake was going to go to in Gisborne. janine, jack started when i got my job about 2 months ago. he was going mon-fri 9.30-3.30 but then i told them i was preggers and lost my job.
he's now going 2 days a week for 4hrs each and still isn't walking. he can stand by himself for ages and is happy with that but just lacks the confidence to actually take a step
they have the under 2's seperate from the over 2's and there's usually only 4-6 other kids there while jack's there. i think only 2 of them aren't walking, cos they are under 12mths

most places you will find separate the little ones from the older ones - over-twos and under twos usually. although the bigger kids are great cos they are sooo mothering (if alittle over-bearing).

Paris was 11 months, right at the height of her stranger anxiety stage, took forever for her to stop screaming when i left.

How long has Jack been going for? you'll find he'll start walking before you know it because he will want to keep up with the other kids - he'll see them all running around and off he'll go one day.

I think with the toilet training thing we had more trouble with Paris going to daycare because for the first little while they weren't as attentive as we were at home about it, so she was having alot of accidents and her confidence went seriously downhill. i am now glad to report we had a stint of 10 days accident free a while ago(the incentive was 7 days accident free meant she could wear the hi-5 undies that had been in her drawer waiting for her to achieve this!!, it took her quite a while!)     currently we have given her her last incentive - that is to stay dry for 2 weeks consistently and she will get a doodle-bear (which is all we heard about from her since she saw them in the shops so we figured that was a good incentive), we have not had any accidents since mike told her of this idea and we are now 4 days away from doodle-bear day (is it mean to say we thought she would not manage it straight away.. and actually don't really have the money to get it right now... but will have to find the money from somewhere - you know the whole instant reward otherwise the lesson it lost thing...)]]> Thu, 30 Mar 2006 16:29:05 +0000 https://www.ohbaby.co.nz/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=1971&PID=36380&title=i-love-daycare#36380 https://www.ohbaby.co.nz/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=1971&PID=36373&title=i-love-daycare#36373 Author: jack_&_charli

jack goes to daycare mon and thurs for 4hrs. he loves it! picked him up today, clothes covered in paint and playdough squished into his socks

hey that's great Liz - what daycare is that? It's so nice that he is accustomed to the routines and such of daycare from when he was in Japan - i think daycare kids are incredibly resistant little mites.

jake started daycare yesterday and i am in love!! the people were really nice. He's just going once a week all day. I dropped him off and he ran to the swing. I kissed him goodbye and he pushed me away, cried for 2 secs and then stole a ball from someone. At 3:30 I went to pick him up. Hew as so grubby, coveredin sand - through his hair and even nappy. Also grinning widely. they said he'd made a new friend and had spent the day running around with him. he'd painted, played with the cars and had a great day. he ran up to me and hugged my legs. Waved goodbye and blew them a kiss. And then was thoroughly tired, ASKED to go to bed at 6:30 (usually at 7).

on a completely unrelated note, me and mum got our hair cut by this mobile hairdresser. Didn't know her buyt mum had seen her ad in the paper. anyway $25 for my haircut and it was GREAT!!   She even vacuumed the kitchen when she was finished. I would recommend her to any Palmy lady. PM me if you want her number.
