He's not worried about the army stuff. He's confident that he will be leaving nz in 6 weeks. No visa and if he is still in the NZ army (I can't remember if he has left yet) there are people that can help him get all the paper work done.

Nah it won't for him, he started the process a while back and his new job is aware of the army thing.

If he is on a nz passport he wont need a visa.

Is he travelling on a NZ passport? If so, he doesn't need a visa unless he's got any criminal convictions (even just a small one, like DIC) - in which case he needs to contact the Australian Embassy to find out what to do.

If he's not on a NZ passport there's different rules for different nationalities - if I was you I'd just get him to ring the Aussie Embassy direct to get the straightest answers.

Dunno if anyone can help..

My friend has been offered a good job in aus and has accepted and he didn't think about the fact he would need a visa..

I've had a look on the aussie immigration site and i think he needs a skilled - independant visa... does that sound right??
