That's ok, I re read your post and I could see how you would think that i was saying don't go to England. My SIL birthed in Margate and she said they were really good, I think you would need to live local (ish) but Margate is only 45 mins from London. Cuppatea - was just a bit scared that we would end up in a foreign speaking place so thought London would work as they speak english as a first language...well, some of them do!

They don't have LMC's you just get whoever happens to be on at the hospital. My sister had a shift change during her first labour. Also I wouldn't be planning on birthing in London, that would be the worse place to be. You can get midwifes that do home births, not sure if there is a fee involved with that though. There are birthing clinics around as well, but again I don't think you get one set midwife just whoever happens to be on when you go into labour.

My sister saw an obstetrician thoroughout her pregnancy, not the same one though and her appointments were just at the local hospital. She had a midwife that came after the birth, although with her second the woman never bothered to turn up despite the fact that my sister left hospital only a few hours after giving birth.

Can someone please give me a run down on how the system works over there.

We are currently looking into heading over to Europe somewhere for my DH to play rugby but would like to know how it works.

Would probably head to London to birth as think it would be easier.
