We use a naughty chair...basically the same concept though. to tell the truth, I find Taine - at 2 and a hlaf, doesn't understand time out, and the only time he goes, is when he is having a temper tantrum.

usually we just remove him from the situation

some people consider 2 too early for timeout...
he didnt want to put his shoes on and by putting him in his room he didnt have to ... so he won!

We have recently started doing 'timeout' to my 2 year old son. We ask him to do something ' Ben come here so we can put your shoes on etc' then we tell ' Ben come here so we can put your shoes on' then if he still ignores us he gets taken to timeout.

It was working fine until last week as we were putting him in his room, now he has started playing in his room when its timeout, so we tried the spair room, he did the same played on the bed and pretended to go 'ni'ni's! Any room no matter how empty he can find amusement in...

So yesterday I thought we could put him in our very large walk in wardbrobe... but then it seemed a bit like child abuse to put your child in a wardbrobe!! I did it and held the door for 5 seconds and he came out like an angel.

However it feels a bit wrong even for 5 seconds...any advice what else I could do, or do I stick to this as it worked, today even the mention of timeout made him be good and listen..???
