It is quite a random little shop and they don't have a heap of stock but always seem to have what I want and the lady is very helpful. It is called the Ta-Dah Icing Specialists and there address is Shop 6, Church Corner Mall, Riccarton (the funny wee set of shops over the road from Bush-Inn on Riccarton Road). I suggest you take the picture with you and she will be able to give you advice. I hire tins (have heaps of shapes) and buy cake boards etc from there. I know they have the hard icing stuff and the powdered colorings.

i also found cake books from library good, usually have pictures of the cake then the icing recipe (so you can get an idea of what it will look like).

Hope that helps you.

It was really easy and was basically melted marshmallows and icing sugar. PM me if you want the full recipe.
Also if you are going to colour fondant the easiest way is to put it in a snap lock bag with some food colouring (the gel colours are the best) and mix it until it is the colour you want, then just roll it out. You can use 1 block of butter, supersoft (so its almost starting to melt) about 6-8 cups of icing sugar - mix em up with a electric mixer till its all creamed nice, add some colour and bam there you go. Keeps for a good 3 days in an airtight container.

The pins are piped (icing coming out of a bag) I'd advise to use actual pics and take em off before they get eaten

Do you know how to do the scalloped borders?
