It takes a bit of practice<br /><br />For Ash's first birthday, I did this cake:<br /><img src="http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l260/spierling/Birthday019-1.jpg" border="0"><br /><br />The 'grass' is dessicated coconut plus a few drops of green food colouring mixed in a small plastic bag, then toasted in the oven for a few minutes to dry it off. Maybe you could do that instead of buying the extra stuff for the piping kit?]]>

    <![CDATA[<strong>Author:</strong> <a href="https://www.ohbaby.co.nz/forum/member_profile.asp?PF=425">mum2paris</a><br /><strong>Subject:</strong> 20058<br /><strong>Posted:</strong> 13 August 2008 at 12:36pm<br /><br />hhhm does it say what you can use it with - ie. does it say to use butter icing or sugarpaste etc?<br /><br />I'd say that you prob wouldn't need anything else to get the grass effect looks like the nozzle is right for doing it.<br /><br />I once made grass tufts for a cake by getting the ready to roll stuff, colouring it green and treating it like i would playdough - ie breaking off tiny bits, making strands and then sticking them together witha tiny bit of water.<br /><br />Find out what type of icing you need to use with that, then cover the cupcakes with a fine covering of green butter icing, and do the grass to stick on and voila!&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<br /><br /> If it's butter icing i would say to make it kinda thicker at stiffer so it holds the shape well - which really is probably what it needs to be actually looking at the pic of the cupcakes again i think it might be - in that case, I'd say you just put the icing in the bag and use it like you would a star nozzle doing little bits and repeating over and over again and it should stick if there's already a fine layer of butter icing on the cupcake.
