We are only 1c more than the national price here, only have Shell and Caltex. While we are the middle of nowhere you still have to come through here to go throught the north island unless you take the long way.

Ohakune is always expensive, surprised Waiouru wasn't, they're in the middle of nowhere, every where around the central plateau is, its not somewhere you want to run out of gas.

We got gas (well my mate did) at gull yesterday and it was 1.98

I hope it hasnt gone up again cause i need to fill up before going to auckland!

Its the isolation thing. Lizzle's right - Gissy and Wairoa are a few cents more expensive, but if you try Hicks Bay (right on the tip of east cape), its closer to 15 cents more. Westport's always ridiculous, something like 10-15c a litre extra. Queenstown and wanaka are always like that as well and charge way more. I suppose they just say it costs more for deliveries or something. if they are an independant gas station then they can charge what they like but if they are a chain then thats another story.

The BP here in Matata always charge around 10c more and when i queried it that was my answer

I read today that the price of 91 has gone under $2 a litre again (started by Shell), which is really good. But this morning I went over to Ohakune to get some groceries and Aus $'s and to put a bit of petrol in my car and it was $2.12 a litre. Now last time I saw the petrol price it was $2.02 a litre (as it was $2.03 in Waiouru). Now I know at this time of the year Ohakune is a tourist haven because of the skiing but really can they charge an extra 10c a litre?? Is there anywhere I can complain to coz that really isn't on.
