So her total sleep time was averaging 17 hours per day too.<br /><br />I took her to the doc as she was sleeping sooooo much and it turned out she was iron deficient and once she'd had a course of iron supplementation she reduced to a normal amount of sleep.<br /><br />]]>

Jake was a big sleeper when youger, but by 11/12 months was down to one nap of about 1.5hours some days, otherwise 2x 1-1.5hours on days when he was really tired / sick / at daycare.<br />The only time he slept like that was when he had pneumonia and we ended up in hospital, and even then it was only for about 2 days.<br /><br />I would go to the doc and get referred to a specialist if I was you.]]>

I found once Ella started walking she got really tired during the day and needed a bit of extra sleep to keep her going. ]]>

What I would worry about is that she doesn't sound awake and alert when she is up, more like you are trying to keep her awake. I don't think a trip to the docs could hurt, probably nothing and she is just a baby that needs the extra sleep but I always think its better to get them checked out whenever you are a concerned.]]>

That does seem like a huge ammount to sleep,..but it may be still in the normal range. Isla has always been at the min end of the range for sleep, so that seems like a hell of a lot of sleep to me! I would ph plunket line or your plunket nurse and ask them, o your Dr,..just to check it out.]]>
