We tried CIO and Sienna screamed for 4 hours one night, after 6 weeks of CIO she was still screaming every night. Now we're just hoping that having their grommets back in and their adenoids out next Friday will make a big difference coz atm they are having induced sleep thanks to the phenargan they are on for their sinuses and ears.

So be decide on a plan, whether that be simply let her cry, and stick to it like glue for a really hard week. Don't be tempted to give in as then your going back to the start again. And hopefully by the end of the week you can get a good night of solid sleep.

Good luck

The 1st was the worst and eased from there.

The Sleep Store said there are 2 options, Let them CIO or you can do controlled crying, controlled crying takes a bit more time and patience. For us patience was not existant in our house

They also suggested a book that has both methods in it, I am sorry I can not remember what it was called.

Best of luck! sending sleep vibes your way

    Author: Andie
Subject: 20416
Posted: 27 August 2008 at 1:53pm

Ooohhhh... if the Doc rules sickness out, maybe you could PM Kellz? She's fought the sleep/nighttime bottle battle and eventually won the battle of the night feeds! She'd have some good advice I bet.

...I don't! Ha ha. All I know is that a friend's child who has never been a good sleeper and never slept through the night was eventually sleeping through at 2 years old because they gave him a week to cry it out - he didn't need anything, he was warm, well fed, dry - just wanted to be awake and cuddled, so would scream until he got that. Two years of this took a huge toll on the parents. And when they did let him cry it out, the first night he cried, screamed, banged the door, for TWO HOURS!! But he gave up after then and went back to bed himself. Next night was less time, 3rd night something like 15mins, 4th night he finally slept through. So it sounds like the older they are, the more of a fight they might put up, and the longer you have to be prepared to listen to them crying, if that's the technique you choose to try.

A few weeks ago she cut this out and we were able to have a decent sleep with her sleeping through the night, then something changed on Friday night!

Today I have woke up after only getting about 5 hours sleep as DH wanted to let her scream it out this morning to see if she would settle herself, but after unsettled for 30 mins he went into her room and put the dummy in... then we carried on for another 30 mins still no sleeping for either of us and her so I said give her the bottle.

She is still being wrapped, but can sleep unwrapped and still has a dummy. Tonight we are going to try the same thing. We have the "Sleep Book" and have been to the "Sleep Store" and got a DVD on getting them through the night. Why does it look so easy on the dvd and it's hard yacker in real life! If only Zoe was like Lucy and sleeping through the night @ 2 months!!

Does anyone have any other tips? Apart from whisking us away to some deserted island to have a decent nights sleep?
