Have just put her back down for her morning sleep. The day sleeps are the ones that I cringe about. i remember having to do the same thing with charli when she started waking during the night (after sleeping through for months) while she was teething........she then realised if she woke up and screamed, she'd get a cuddle and another bottle

Thats awesome that she settled down, I remember it only took 3 nights of "tough love" with Neosha before she was sleeping through all the time and it was bliss

Well...... 5 mins after I sent the post, she went to sleep, it took 45 mins, and with NO dummy. She woke at 2pm but settled herself down and went back to sleep.

There is no way that we can reintroduce the dummy now as then all of our hard work would have been a waste of time.

I suppose doing it cold turkey has been good as now she is no longer wrapped. That was the big thing, we would have her wrapped with the dummy in and then she would scream because it falled out and she had no hands to put it back in. Now she doesn't have that problem.

oh so brave, we are just trying to teach our litte on to settle herself during the day, not wrapping and letting herself get the dummy. We still wrap her at night and give her the dummy.

We were lucky and tried changing her feeding patterns and that got her sleeping through the night, we are now at 2.5 weeks of 12 hours!

DH wants to wean her off .. but she sleeps through so I dont see the problem.

and if you really dont want to let her cry for that long you dont have to... 8 months is still young and sleeping through the night will come eventually ...

but, just a wee thought.... if you are trying to teach her to sleep through the night - maybe try that first before ditching the dummy, cos you'll never get her to sleep thru the night if she hasn't got her little comfort thing to turn to when you refuse to feed her.

Oh good luck Lisha. Cry it out is the the agenda here in the very near future, when we get a suitable time to do it. Harry until a week and a half ago has been waking 2-3 times a night now he is waking once between 12 and 3am for a bottle. To be honest he doesn't really need it so we wil endeavour to stop this soon.

It must be really hard but you know you are doing it for the right reasons.

DH and I have decided that tonight is the night that we are going to teach Zoe to sleep through the night. And we have also removed her dummy that she has had since a newborn.

She is screaming and crying and has been doing this for the past 40 mins and I am sitting here crying as I feel for her and want to go in and tell her everything is ok.... but if I do, all this will be a waste of time.

I know that it will be worth it in the long run, but she is sooooo sad and so am I. That is why it is called tough love.
